I have made a easy to install short ram velocity intake and I am looking to gauge what kind of interest the users on this forum would have for me to start making these for owners on the thread.
Yes I know it will not be as much of a benefit of a Long tube cold air kit, but many of us do not want to spend the amount of money or the amount of work to install that for an intake.
These K&N velocity kits a very easy to install, clean, sound great but not overly loud, and they add more pull to the upper end of the power band.
Since it does not have metal tubing this will negate some of the heatsoak issues and if the interest is great enough I will make a heatshield for it as I currently have one coming for my own vehicle.
The only difference between the kit I have and the ones I would make would be using a new MAF housing instead of the oem one.
It is the oem MAF housing removed from the air boxes, K&N filter, velocity stacks and necessary couplers. The idea behind the thread is to gauge interest for people not wanting to do it themselves then I would take the time to build the MAF housings and do the necessary things to sell them.
I would be more than happy to make a DIY for this if people would rather cut their own intakes and buy all the necessary parts, but if more people would rather buy a plug and play kit then I would go that route.

No problem posting a DIY w/ all the parts req'd for the project. If you want to source this kit and sell them then yep, you will have to pony up the vendor toll
I appreciate the effort to do this for the community, but short rams actually lose power unless they are closed off from the heat of the engine bay. even then, they are less efficient than the stock intake design. only way to even make a little reliable power with an intake is to go long tubes. no other way around it, you gotta pay to play. I had a similar setup with the k&n typhoon kit, and my car ran like crap. all I gained was noise. now I have the takeda attack cai and its a night and day difference. if only someone made a longtube kit with carbon fiber tubing to resist heat soak.....

I personally have a heat shield shipped as we speak, With the velocity stacks it helps. Right now I have had 4 staged of intakes - if you guys think the info is helpful I will do a DIY comparison on all.
- Everything stock, K&N drop-ins
- Mishimoto tubes, K&N drop-ins
- Mishimoto tubes, vented stock boxes and K&N drop ins
-Mishimoto tubes, Velocitys stacks and K&N cones (heat shields on the way)
I have had my car tuned accordingly with Up-rev on two stages of this and have been running OBD2 logs for them.
I will say out of all of them my car seems to run the smoothest and has the most top end pull with the design I made. The Vented boxes were the loudest by far and had better low end pull but not as much up top.
Once I get a better data log for the DIY kit I will post more info, I will say though I doubt I lost any power, BUT I will say it moved the power curve.
The real reason I want to share this info and help is. To did this kit by yourself using the stock MAF housings will run you about $100 total. This should easily perform as well as an R2C kit and with a tune, make a harder pulling top end than a stock. The Silicone helps with not as much heat soak too.
I would only make them if enough people want a new MAF housing and dont want the parts, if not it isnt worth the time or hassle to become a vendor at the end of the day I just love building and helping people better their cars
