Okay. It is not the resonator in the pictures. It is the plastic part that sits right next to the oil fill cap. It looks like a small master cylinder off a motorcycle. Directly next to the oil fill cap.

Can I still tape over whatever that is??????

I was thinking it was the resonator that connects to the air filter box, not the intake hoses, it looks like you can't order just that part, but the whole intake hose that includes that side piping. #14 (left & right side) in this diagram. #11 was the part that I thought it could be

check this out. See the right hand snorkel? The rectangle part coming out to the left toward the engine. You see it on that picture and I am pretty sure it vents into the valve cover. Not positive though. Can I drive is the million dollar question.
