Stillen Headers
the smartest thing to do would be to put in new motor mounts while that are installing the headers.. you going to have to replace them at some point because they will fail..
Great news!!! I've been following this saga for some time now.
I have an X sedan and was wanting headers. B first it was the Z1 fitment thing, then I though 'great' Stillen has 'em that'll fit, then your issues....
Has it been definitavely determined whether it was that particular header you got from Stillen or Stillen's not a good fitment in general for the X? I'm not really interested in shaving or swapping motor mounts for headers LOL.
Probably have to wait to see what the fitment is like for the replacement header...

That was a fascinating video. Thanks, Baby J!
So when Stillen recommended he bang the pipe for clearance, they must have been serious. It's the volume of airflow that's the critical component, not necessarily the shape. These Stillen headers should have come pre-crushed on the port that's problematic.

Hey Guys, I haven't removed anything as of yet, I Still have the Stillen headers on the car. I'm thinking going forward , what happens when the mounts settle if wear a bit and it starts touching again? I want to be sure the drivers side is correct and wont touch, It's shouldn't have touch with the stock mounts and they were in very good shape. The only reason the Z1's work is we have them adjusted one side up the other down to create enough space so it wont hit :/.
Right now I'm dealing with the alignment I got done 10 days ago that has the rack sitting on the sub frame :/

I may have my shop dent the pipe that's close to the mount when they change out the mounts so there is proper clearance.
What caused the steering rack to hit the subframe? did one of the steering rack mounts fail?

From: Framingham Ma,
Don't know yet, cars at Motive again.
All I know is i went in( NTB) for alignment and 2 days later I notices a knock in the front end.
The header is not hitting the mount;/ The collector was hitting the steering shaft. The motor mount brackets are fine

You can't dent the collector

That's right I forgot. I'm gonna see what can be done there. Maybe collector can be dented a little and not have negative affects. We will see. sucks about steering rack. Do you think it;'s related to the motor mount install in any way?

From: Framingham Ma,
So the rack was a dumb loose bolt, DAMN dealer wouldn't even check them.

Motive fixed in in like 10 mins!! An cleaned all the OIL the dealer spilled everywhere!!! Don't think I'm going back to that dealer of my oil changes, there was like a 1/4 qrt all over the place!!
That's both good and bad, of course.
So not to belabor the point...but I will...
What's the takeaway here other than ANMVQ's dealer sucks dead donkey d*cks?
Are the Stillen Headers a good fitment on the G37X?
Does anything need modification to make them fit properly without undue NVH?
Can we place our orders, install, and then challenge all forced-induction Gs we might meet along the way?

Agree'd about the dealer, PIA's. The headers I don't know yet,I'll let you know after install. If the new ones clearance is the same then NO they will not fit with out modification. We'll see

I don't have be pics and measurments yet but the shop said the header was DRASTICLY different, there is much more space away from the steering shaft, Like double!! the two pics he showed me on his phone you could tell the header that came off the car was bent and the flange was even clocked in a differnt manner. I'll have pics sometime Monday from him

From: Framingham Ma,
So I have the pics and measurements to show the header I had was defective( Yes Stillen agreed)
The old space was 4.220mm now with the new header installed is 6.8MM. You can see by the pics that the old headers collector has a different size and the placement of the the flange was even clocked in a different direction :/, width of the flange looks thicker too. The overall size/ length looks different also, The length thing may be correct as a caught a look at my exhaust tips the other day and I could have swore the drivers side looked tucked on more( Shorter)? this is because the new header looks to be shorter than the old one. I know they hand make these but gess!!
