Huh I will see how it behaves in the spring. I have some off ramps that are aggressive and I take them hard at times.

How bad is the vibration? Does it feel like the steering she is being jerked out if your hands or bouncing back?

I looked user the car today at the alignment shop and there's only like a half of inch of clearance between the headers and the steering shaft

Yea the vibration is bad it's not taking the wheel back fro me but just a real strong vibration. I'm having it look at today at 1:30pm. I emailed the shop yesterday and he texted me this morning and said I can come by at 1:30 for him to take a look. I'm off today so it works out perfect. I hope it's something simple like something loose.

Maybe a bad flex pipe is causing excess vibration throughout the exhaust including the headers? Hope it's something easy to fix for you.

It's likely header clearance. A lot of aftermarket headers have a tough time clearing the frame or other components. It often looks fine when the car is stationary, but when the engine is torqued while driving, the engine rocks back and forth, and the headers make contact with the frame or something. On other cars (I haven't needed to do this on a Z/G), I've put little shim stacks between the motor mount and the frame. Effectively making the motor mount a little taller on that side. It works if you have enough threads on the motor mount. Another thing you could try is a solid motor mount that doesn't let the motor rock back and forth, but then obviously, you're transmitting ALL of the engine vibrations to the frame because you have solid mounts.

When you get under there, check for wear marks like scratches or rubbing on the individual pipes to see where it's rubbing. If you had the headers wrapped, it will be obvious by a little pile of 'header wrap flakes' on your steering shaft. If they're not wrapped, it might be hard to see without a direct view of the runner.

Agreed with the above also but headers aren't wrapped I called Stillen and asked them they want a picture of where it sits. The flex pipe ? Not unless its loose my whole ARK system is less than a year old :/. I'm at the shop now so I should now something soon

The other thing to consider is that the motor mounts have a tiny bit of play in them. If they loosen the nuts, they should be able to move the motor itself, +/- 1/2" in either direction before tightening it down. Maybe they just need to re-orient the motor and bolt it back up. If it only happens in turns, that might be all the clearance you need.

From: Framingham Ma,
If your mount collapsed when you turn rt the motor would shift and rob the shaft. Remember I don't have any issues unless I "bank" the car hard rt . The stock mounts have never been off the car , not saying they haven't moved. Also while I was there we let the car cool off and the gap with telhe headers cold was a bit bigger as soon as we started the car let it warm the gap shrunk :/. I'm ordering the z1 poly mounts , there adjustable also.

Oh I see, I thought they had to jack the motor to install the headers. I'm glad you found the problem!
