How to do a Fuel Injection Flush
Company name-brand gas is just as good as any 3rd-party flush. Chevron with Techron is good. Shell was touting it's nitrogen gas a few years ago due to its cleaning properties. I'm sure Exxon is right there, too, with cleansers.
Just run a double dose of "techron" additive in a tank of petrol. Does wonders for cleaning out the fuel system and did a good job of removing carbon build up from the pistons on my BMW R1100RT... Cheapest I have found it is a "case" at Costco.
Finally got it done today. It was the 5?16" T-fitting (OTC Item # 32 or ITC Part # 518476). The location was down on the passenger side engine compartment near the catalytic converter behind some small metal shields. I had to take the air handler off at the large hose clamp attachment to the throttle body. There is also a small air hose clamped to the plastic part which is bolted to the intake plenum (on right side of picture below. There is one bolt on the air handler, then it "pops" out from (3) rubber inserts below the air handler. I had to remove the metal shield covering the fuel line connector. It has (2) 10mm screws (one on top of the other). There is a large plastic protector over the fuel connector. It just slides off sideways (no clips). Once that is removed, press the tabs of the green plastic fuel line connector. See pictures below.
I regulated the pressure to 46 psig during flushing with OTC cleaning fluid. Worked great. Rev to between 1000 and 1500 rpm. It takes about 20 minutes to run out of fluid. Release pressure and connect back fuel line and reinstall fuse. Ran better than before!
The OTC fuel pressure adaptor to tie into Item 1 is either OTC part # 518476 (5/16" T-fitting Hair Pin Adaptor or 518527 3/8" T-fitting Hair Pin Adaptor. OTC list them as Adaptor 32 or 33. I am not sure which one yet since I haven't got to this connection yet.
My adaptor shown in the picture above to check fuel pressure (OTC 528770) is their adaptor 59. It is a 11mm diameter (0.430") Oring nipple.

I recently used 2 bottles of Chevron Techron Complete Fuel System Cleaner 12oz, 1 bottle per 8 gallons, and 1 bottle of Sea Foam Spray Cleaner and Lube (12 oz.)
My idle improved and no longer idles at 700-600-500 and rarely 800-900, now car idles 700-800-900. Car has 100500 miles, never used any fuel additives, using 93 oct uprev tune.
