Takeda is supposed to give you better gains, but sits in front of the radiator and requires to remove the grill for installation and for maintenance/replacing filters. r2c is easier to install and maintain, but supposedly doesn't give as good of numbers. There are reports that r2c numbers are actually better through the power band than the stillen (which is similar to the takeda), but the stillen is better at higher rpms.

For what it's worth, I researched the exact 2 you are looking at and settled on the r2c because it was easier to install and maintain along with the fact that my G is my daily and I was hesitant to have an intake with filters in front of the radiator with the weather I get in Missouri even with the rain guard. The only noticeable difference I've seen is how my intake screams at WOT throttle along with my muffler delete. I love the sound of my car when I get on it!

Takeda is a cold air intake. It should be and is better. Only slight problem is installation. If you are not really that much into making your car the fastest possible, then just go with the R2C and enjoy an easy DIY install.

Takeda is more expensive and much more difficult to install (compared to the R2C).

Takada is a true CAI, with better gains. If you're going to get your car tuned eventually, you should probably go with the long-tube design.

However, the Black Nickel midpipes on the R2C kit are freaking beautiful. If you're into engine bling, I think the R2C is a more attractive set-up.

There is no wrong answer.

Are the gains really that substantially different do you think? I thought it was more at the curve or at the top end was the difference?

I'm still content with my R2C's

There is a graph in a thread somewhere that supposedly shows the differences. it shows the r2c is better through the "power band" and the stillen was better at the top end. I honestly doubt you could tell much if any difference.

And +1000 on the black nickel r2c! No regrets on getting mine either.

Fun thread. I love a good intake slap-fest.

And that whole "R2C midrange" argument is what sold me on R2C. That, the beautiful setup, and the easier install.

However, when the day comes around for me to get the car tuned, I've always planned on replacing the R2C with the Takeda.

You'll be needing that splash shield on the Takeda, so add $60 to the bottom line. However, that's still a great price. Go for it!

At the meet-up last Spring, I think it was Connor who had his Takeda mid-pipes powdercoated in this beautiful gray. That's always something to consider... a little tasteful customization.

That Black Nickel plating... it's like mercury. Draws you in and you get lost in it.

Pics rarely do it justice, however here's one:
