That's not good. I'll have to check mine as well.

In all honesty, as much as I like the R2C with the exhaust on now it isn't the same sound. Not that it's bad but it is mostly lost now. Or I'm just not discerning the two yet.

If I have to pull the heat shields off to get cleaned up I would be tempted to send them out for black chrome....

Oh please... It's just an intake. You're not tearing down the engine. Although to take mine off, I need access to the clamps at the TB, which means removing the engine cover, which means removing the FSTB... dominoes, LOL.

Anyway, I cleaned and waxed my mid-pipes, treated the weather stripping with tire gel, cleaned the heat-shields and got out the little brush to touch-up the paint fails with black primer. Everything is back together, fitted tight and proper.

30 minutes of your life well spent, IMO.

As far as the R2C Intake Kit goes, it's very pretty, and sounds sweet, but before the car gets tuned they will be replaced with a long-tube set-up, like Takeda or Stillen Gen3.

But since that's still years away, no regrets.

You're spending a lot of time on "just and intake" John .

You see what I'm talking about though. If I have to take it off and scrub, prep and paint it... Why not just send it to my uncle for some additional treatment? I may send the FSTB out but I just can't decide. I am a firm believer if something is worth doing, it's worth over doing.DOMO

I'll take a look at it hopefully on Sunday if the weather holds.

In that context, well, yes. That's how I roll with this stuff.

I meant in the way of being a project. It's not much of a project. More like, um, tinkering.

Just light your money on fire. Those look like they are going to suck in a ton of hot air.

Just saying. Un-tuned and without high-flow cats, short-ram intakes are just noise-makers, regardless of the design.

At least on this car.

IMO.

Are you sure about that? That HKS looks a lot like the Top Secret intake. It could possibly outperform a CAI.

k&n and rc2 intakes claims their cold air intakes but they all look like heat soakers only difference is they have heat shields but your still sucking in hot air, stillen gen 2 looks like a better short ram that sucks in cold air.
