Stillen exhaust, ART pipes, stillen CIA sounds horrible
Ok so just had my Motordyne art pipes and stillen exhaust installed today and I'm VERY VERY upset at the rasp this created! Not sure from which its truly coming from, sounds more like the mufflers than anything....anyone else have this issue. Extreme rasp from the 2-3500k rpm range.

Any type of non resonated test pipes or even high flow cats typically enhances raspiness. But the MD ART pipes are generally known for not being raspy. The Stillen exhaust you paired it with might not be the best option if you hate rasp. For example, there are sound clips you can find of people with Motordyne E370 that have paired it with the ART pipes and it sounds low and throaty and lovely.

I agree w you in the fact that most dp's would cause that but the motordyne are "suppose" to not have that issue as well as they have a resonator on them as well to eliminate that. Guess this it what ppl deal w when they can't hear an exhaust live and only clips on the Internet. Not sure if the sound will change any over time after everything breaks in....?

Those aren't resonated per say. Those are helmholtz canisters for filtering certain frequencies to my understanding and even though they have them, doesn't mean that you can pair then with any exhaust and get the same result, a good exhaust would benefit you in the sound dept.

so actually reading some more and alot that I've read say to switch the mid pipe to one with resonaters on it? Can anyone confirm that this would indeed do the trick and eliminate the rasp? or would the rasp go away with taking off the ART pipes?

thx but dont think I want to go this route if I ever want to sell the system. Been reading most of the night and all morning and going absolutely insane! Seems to me its the art pipes combo w stillen as mentioned thus meaning one has to go...the cheaper of the 2 is the art pipes...just not sure what to do...just add OEM cats back on and say F it? or do I continue to play the game of trying to match....do I now decide to go away from the dp's all together as they are more drone for rasp and go w HFC's? Im already in the hole for purchasing all and having it installed so...now comes do I pay again to have it taken off and continue to go thru the cycle? ahhhhh

Before you go making assumptions about the system due to the raspiness, make sure you dont have any leaks coming from your ART pipes. If whoever installed forgot to install the gaskets that go on BOTH ends of the TP then you will have rasp. If they did install them make sure they have been installed correctly - check to see if its the correct fitment, if the gaskets have been damaged, or if there are any gaps between the Headers and TP and/or TP and Y pipe. I have had both the Stillen and the ART pipes with absolutely zero rasp. I also had the Invidia and Berk HFC with crazy rasp but that was due to a damaged header to HFC gasket that I had found later on. So before you do something hasty just double check first with the install and gaskets.
