Gas Mileage Changes With Exhaust & Intake Mods
#31
I recently drove a stock 08 g37s about 250 miles and got almost 30 a gallon because I couldn't go over 55 the entire time due to a bent rim. once I got new rims on it, right back to the regular 19-20 a gallon. put the intakes and exhaust back on. same mileage as stock.
Also, your short ram intakes are worse than stock, they just suck hot air when sitting at a stop light and don't create a vacuum like the stock ones do to pull air. The only intakes which actually work are the injen long CAI or Stillen Gen 3 Ultra long, as they sit in front of the radiator and suck cold air, and are out of the hot engine compartment itself.

There really shouldn't be any significant fuel economy changes due to an intake or exhaust. My guess is your fuel economy went down because you enjoyed the sound of the intake and gave it a little more gas driving around. Once you got the exhaust, you could hear the exhaust note better and needed to floor it less to get that noise we all love.

When my car was bone stock I used to get around 21mpg but with all my mods I got around 18-19mpg and then with the uprev tune I now get around 19-19.7mpg. My mpg went down but I got back a lot more with the awesome sound and better performance worth it? I think so.
