FI RHFCs making my car sound like a lawnmower?
Problem solved...RHFCs weren't the problem...just a loose bolt on one of my R2C intakes

Exhaust sounds or issues are best documented by having the car raised on a lift or high jack stands and making a recording while underneath the car. At a minimum put the phone or camera on the ground under the suspected area and start the car. Or if you're brave, put the phone or camera on the ground and slowly drive over it.
Notwithstanding that, have you tried an ECU reset recently or any time since installing it? From your description it sounds as if the problem may possibly be something besides the exhaust component itself.

BB...I'll try recording it that way today. No I haven't reset the ECU since they were installed. This just started within the last month or so...no probs before. Everything else on the exhaust is stock. I'll give the ECU reset a try...whats the easiest way of resetting it? Just unhook the battery?
John...yea I was too. I called and told them about the HFCs beforehand...I didn't want to be charged a diagnostic fee if they blamed the noise on the HFCs. My service guy was great though. He said they wouldn't be able to make any big repairs if it was a problem with the HFCs, but it wouldn't be a priblem if it was something small like a loose bolt.

Thanks BB...resetting the CPU worked...i unhooked the battery for about 30mins. The exhaust sound is nice and smooth while idling again. Just curious...why did resetting the cpu fix it? Also, am I going to have to do it again at some point?

Ok...so I guess I spoke to soon...or maybe I wasn't listening closely enough the other day when I said the noise was gone. Driving to work this morning, it was definitely noticeable again. I'll take a video clip later this week for you guys. I'm really at a loss as to what the problem can be besides the HFCs

Well problem solved. I feel like an idiot admitting this, but I have to clear FI's name since I blamed the rattling noise on my RHFCs. So the noise was unbearable today. I got home from work and was completely fed up. I jacked up the car, crawled underneath and listened. As I was getting out from under the car, I heard the rattle the loudest when I was up against the front fender. So I popped the hood to check it out. Low and behold, one of the bolts that holds the passenger side R2C filter was loose and hitting against the bracket. I tightened the bolt and the rattling stopped. I don't know if I was more mad at myself that i didnt figure this out sooner or embarrassed that that was the cause. I had checked the engine bay before but didnt hear anything. I guess the bolt loosened more during the day which made the sound more noticeable tonight. So no...the FI RHFCs were NOT causing the rattling at all.
Cliffs Notes: FI HFCs weren't causing the rattling noise...they're great...I'm dumb...the end lol

Don't feel like an idiot. Something like this has happened to probably most or all of us who work on our own cars sooner or later. As stupid as you felt when you found out what it was (I've been there), think how relieved you feel that 1) there's nothing wrong with your exhaust and 2) you were able to find and fix it yourself for free.
Thanks for sharing.
