It sounds like we are looking for the same kind of exhaust note from our cars. I too am a long time muscle car owner...I've grown up driving Mustangs.

Like others have said, we unfortunately won't be able to get a muscle car sound from our G37s...BUT...the Borla catback exhaust is pretty damn close! It has much more of a deep, rumble, and growl than most of the other exhausts. I've read a lot of good reviews about FI and ARK, but they have more of a raspy, high pitched sound than I'd like. Also if you look at pictures, those mufflers hang down pretty low past the rear bumper...I'm not a fan of how you can see the mufflers hanging down...just reminds me of how those riced out Civics look with the fart can exhausts...not really the look I'm going for. The mufflers on the Borla system sit up higher (right where the stock muffler sits) so you can't see them hanging down. It gives you a nice, clean look but with a much improved sound. Plus from what I've read from others, there is no drone with the Borla catback as there is with many other exhaust systems.

Here is a sound clip...

It's a little more expensive than other systems, but well worth it IMHO. VR Speed Factory has the cheapest price by about $300..I asked some of the vendors and they couldn't match it. Here's the link...
Borla 140260 08+ Infiniti G37 Cat-Back Exhaust (VQ37VHR).

I'll be ordering mine this weekend

I do not have an X but I do have the Berk system... I am not sure if they make it for the X but it is worth a call if you like the sound, I am in Chicago too so let me know if you are interested in hearing it more:

Also, Samurai (forum name) has an X, has the FI setup, and is in Chicago area too so he might be a good person to reach out to.

Good luck with your search, hope this helps.

OMG that Borla sounds awesome! I need to find someone with it in person cause its hard to tell if it will sound the same in person vs online.

Chi-city-g: I'm actually in the NW Burbs but found someone near me with the FI so I'm making plans to meet next weekend. Would you say your Berks are as deep as the Borla sounds in the video posted above?

I would say it is most certainly NOT as deep as the noise of the Borla... it is a much different sound from what I can tell but the Borla seems to be closer to the sound you are going for. Do they make it for the X?

Just ordered the Borla catback from VR Speed Factory. I'll be installing it next Friday so I'll post up a sound clip once it's on...can't wait!

Not sure...I'd call Borla direct and ask them which applications will fit the AWD

Yea I was bummed but it may have worked out for the best. I've been doing research on Berk HFC. From reviews and sounds clips I've seen they have a pretty deep rumble (at high and low rpms)without any significant drone with just the stock exhaust...for half the price of the full Borla CB.

What I think I'm gonna do now is to go with Berk HFCs now and then add the Borla catback later on if the HFCs alone don't give me the sound I want. Borla with Berk HFCs sounds down right mean and nasty! Just do a search on YoutubeYoutube
