Pro/Cons of a CAI

I'm trying to determine if getting a new CAI would be good for my IPL. I've been considering getting the Stillen Gen3 but am unsure if it's best suited for me. I've done a little searching but can't really find the answers to my questions.

What are the Pros/Cons of getting a new CAI for my car?
What kind of issues can I run into with upgrading to it?
What kind of problems can arise from getting it?
What about my warrenty? Will it void it?

Thanks in advance for any help/links/advice... =)

If it were my car I would not get the CIA involved at all.

Now CAI, I would defintely add one off those.

Yes man. Get a CAI. You'll enjoy it. Gives a nice sound.

An intake will make a whooshing sound and throw your AFR off and give you minimal gains at redline and a loss down low. Without other supporting mods, particularly a tune, it's not worth doing IMO.

This is exactly what i was looking for. As far as I know the IPL is tuned a little differently than the base or sport models (correct me if i'm wrong), so would this make it any different or does what you say still apply?

IPL is still tuned to the stock intake so an aftermarket CAI will still most likely lean it out.

What are the Pros/Cons of getting a new CAI for my car?
pros:
performs better than stock
looks cooler
gen 3 has had some good gains for some ppl
cons:
- hydrolocking
- difficult in fitment/installing.
What kind of issues can I run into with upgrading to it?
hydrolocking
air sensors installing
modifiying the front of the duct to accomodate filters.
What kind of problems can arise from getting it?
hydrolocking!
What about my warrenty? Will it void it?
it wont void the warranty unless the fault your car has is directly linked to it.

I was int he same dilemma when i was looking into the r2cs and the gen 3s. the only reason why i went with the r2cs is because i ddi not want to worry about hydrolocking (i live in NE).

anybody else wants to add to above?

Same thing, doesn't matter that it's an IPL.

Lots of people have them and love them. It won't actually improve your car unless you get a tune.

Do it! Modify your IPL! I want everyone to modify the crap out of their IPLs!

Personally I would never do it.
