Stock Y Pipe issue?

Ok so I have been getting this kind of crackling noise when my car is on. I haven't noticed it before until a few weeks ago.
It doesn't make that noise when the car is initially started but when the car warms up a bit. Usually after I drive it.
When the car is warm and I am hearing that noise I step on the gas very lightly and I hear that crackle a little more but the higher the RPM it stops.
I was reading around and found out it might be a defective stock y pipe.
Anyone else have this exact issue?

Could be the muffler. There were issues in early models with the baffles in the muffler getting lose and causing a similar noise. It was supposedly fixed in later models but some of us have even had to replace later model mufflers.

see the thing is that it doesnt sound like its coming from the muffler.
It sounds like its coming from the front more.
I looked under the car while it was running and the sound seems like its coming from the cat/y-pipe section of the exhaust.

I have the exact same issue! Does sound like it's coming from the cats area. I can hear it very well when I stick my ear into the wheel well. Will be taking it to the dealership very soon.

That's the way it sounded with me as well... The sound was reverberating and sounded like it was coming from the cats or y-pipe ...

The other crackling sound you may be referring to could be the heat shields. But that only occurred for me when the car was new and after driving the car for a while. When sitting idle, you could hear the metal expanding or contracting. But you couldn't hear while revving. After about 1000 miles the noise went away.

Be sure to get the tech to go for a test ride with you so that you can help them identify the noise. Otherwise they may not now what to listen for.

Which wheel well? Front or back?

The car has 30,000 miles now. It just started recently.
After I take the car out for a drive and I come to a stop I hear it. I rev slightly and it crackles a little more but then i keep revving higher I cant hear it.
Then when I turn off the car that particular noise stops and I just hear the exhaust pinging from heat.

There are rocks in between the gaps of your heatshield and cats. I've got the same issue. One of the members on here advised me to jack it up, and tap the the cats very lightly with a rubber hammer and that gets them out. I don't have a jack, so I can't say I've tried it, but I'll see if the dealer can possibly get them out the next time I go.

oh ok. that sounds like a logical explanation.
Its a little too cold to be jacking up a car and working on it right now so ill either ask my dealer to do it or ill just wait till the warm weather happens.
