MAF screw snapped off

MAF screw snapped off

i was instaling the r2c intake on my car

I installed everything but when i tightened the last MAF screw at 90% tight it SNAPPED OFF!! The maf is on but i dont know if im able to remove it becose theres a piece of screw in the maf screw hole/intake tube, i drove it around for 20 mins and everything seems fine.

BUT now the a piece of the maf screw is stuck how the hell would i get it out??

just leave it in there, and re-tap it, and put a new screw in. This time don't use a drill or tighten them that much, because they snap! Just like the Jet-Blue guy did!!!! Snapped! LOL

yea i could leave it there but what about when i want to take it off i will be fuc**ed and i was tighteninig it by hand when it snapped!!!what do you mean re -tap it and put a new screw in???

You must have used way too much torque tightening it down. It doesn't need to be tightened much.

That's a very small M4 screw. You can get a very small drill bit and drill a hole in the broken screw and use a spiral screw extractor and back it out. Good luck.

What blackbetty said... I think it's called an easy out. Screws into screws and bolts who heads broke off to help extract them

luck i will need and i swear my dude i did not use to much force the screw was corroded becose of winter ... your idea sounds like a good option tho

any others ideas thanks

Given your mechanical aptitude, I'm going to suggest you remove that part of the intake tubing and take it in to an automotive machine shop and ask them to do it. They have the tools and skills to do it easily. Probably won't cost much more than buying the tools to do it yourself. And they're probably better equipped.

do you know where I would take my care to have it extracted? this happened to me right now I was finishing up cleaning my MAFS and I was screwing it back on and i felt the screw a bit loose so i tightened it and the bolt snapped off now the other half is stuck inside the MAFS hole. pls respond to me asap as im in a panic bc i don’t want anything bad to happen to my car.
