Good idea. My exhaust shop offered to install wider tubing and put in an X-pipe behind the cats for $300 installed. I think I'm gonna get that done after getting the axle back.

Greg's remarks if you care....

I think this mod provides more HP:

I had removed my ***** myself to lower the testosteron level in my body otherwise I couldn't put up with all these remarks. I wish you guys be more adventures and do some experimenting. You are forgeting the spirit of tuning and you are sliding into a purely comercial part replacement. After you do it there is boredom beyond imagination. I challenge anybody to try what I have tried on my car but please follow the recipie don't just weld the pipes in. It is all based on certain speculations on the sound change involving the Helmholtz effects. Many of you would scream it is a 40 thousand dol car and I'm butchering it. It is just an exhaust. Many of you sell your original exhaust for 300 bucks for the entire system. So if you mess something up you can either weld it back or buy a used part and put it in. Is it a big deal? Again if you have never tried it how can you tell it's good or bad? I've tried what I described to you and gladly answer any questions before you do it. So far I'm not sure if there is anybody on this forum brave enough to do it for the fear of being ridiculed, called ricer, called names by others who have no idea what it is like. Hey, I still have my ***** in a hermetically sealed jar and I can ship them to anyone of you to overcome your fears. Have fun whatever you are doing to the car some ideas are better than others, try as many as you can, peace, Greg

I think the reason most people give you grief Greg is just based on the looks of your experiments. You are an innovator and if there are reults behind what you're doing then great.

There have been lots of thinkers, designers and innovators who've been called crazy, stupid, on and on. Some have actually been crazy and some have proven to be genuises.

Suffice to say that if you are happy with your work, hooray. There will always be people who will criticize and some who act like kids and overstep the friendly joking stage and go straight to personally insulting. It sucks but it happens. So keep doing what you're doing if it makes you happy.

you are right. The refinement of looks usually comes after the initial stage of accepting the mechanical aspect. Look at the most of the race cars or the development cars they are not pretty. Eventually they become production cars with all the cosmetic refinements.

I was looking around. And I'm leaning towards Tanabe touring. I'm looking for sound tunning, i guess performance doesnt hurt. I originally was going to get Greddy TIC but its 2 loud for me. My question I guess i know tanabe has a y-pipe. Will that make it louder than it is with the tanabe muffler. I want to get nice sound, and some performance, but dont want to wake up my neighbor. Last I want to stay with short intake, so the guy in the shop goes, get fujita. What u think?

for SRI, I have heard good things about the Injen, but I have a CAI so I don't know much about the SRI's, but for axle back exhaust I really think the Megan has the nicest sound. You wont get too much performance out of any axle back...

Adding the Tanabe Y-pipe will most likely make it slightly louder than with just the muffler, but shouldn't be a neighborhood menace

Thanks for the advise. I wanted to get the CAI, but really dont have time to remove, cut, etc. I found 2 short ram intakes the fujita and the Injen, I'll decide this week. All the clips on youtube are with the tanabe y-pipe. I wonder if somebody has the video/audio clip with just the muffler on. The muffler looks so nice. I'm coming off from my 99 civic. So this is a awesome vehicle. This kid has greddy t-ic where I live, on his civic si. But the neighbors filed a complaint, cause he was going like 15 miles an hour, and taught it was this motorcyle. In the end, he had it removed. I guess when you live in a residental/ or suburbs the noise is a concern to people. I just wanted to fine to the exhaust tone. This tanabe touring sounds greats.
