Hey, newbie question but I have to ask. What impacts have you guys really noticed from adding intake systems to your G? Is there a sound increase? I know its not like re-doing the exhaust system but I would assume there is a noticeable engine sound increase, am I wrong?
Best I can summarize is this:
Stock intake box is good. Short ram intakes will not add much power if anyone and can even take power away from lower RPMs so alot of people do not do it. CAI intakes like that of Stillen and Injen generaly do add power. So if ur gonna upgrade go for CAI or keep stock air box with higher flow filters. I just got HKS Hybrid filters.
My question would be how to they affect gas mileage?
ur engine will be sucking in more air...ur ecu will automatically readjust the fuel to compensate....more air = more gas to produce the ideal air/fuel ratio....therefore consuming more gas

Not necessarily, there's so much adjusting your ECU will do, which is why you end up running lean and requiring a tune.
Gas mileage depends on how heavy your right foot is period.
Intakes all together are worthless IMO. The performance gains are negligible for the price you pay and it really doesn't improve the sounds that much.
Actually come to think about it now BJ, N/A mods on our car are a waste of money if performance is sought, go Forced Induction or go home, I find it funny when people argue over a "better intake" because it made 2 more horsepower.
If I were to do it all over again I'd just stick to my exhaust setup for the sexy note and that's about it

Yup! Exactly my thought. That's why I haven't gone the intake route. I learned my lesson a while ago.

+100000. That was exactly my experience with my '04. I went through CAI, plenum, exhaust plus others. For me Vortech was the best. I agree 100% if you want more engine performance go FI or go home. Otherwise you're wasting your $$.
