General CAI question?

What's the true difference between the SRI and the CAI? I'm aware that the CAI is much longer and directs it further towards the ground where as the SRI sits around the top portion of the engine bay.

My concern is, buying the CAI are there parts you have to replace/remove, etc? Worth the extra money? Thanks!

I'm interested in the Stillen CAI, but unsure about buying the product if it's going to involve cutting and replacing etc. I want a simple bolt on product that won't conflict with the engine bays original standing. But if there is a huge power difference among the Stillen or Injen's CAI and let's say Stillen's SRI or Injen's SRI, i'm willing to make a few exceptions. Can someone tell me thanks

i'm also considering an intake, but it seems like our stock intakes are already pretty good, so unless you want the extra sound and engine bay looks... the HP gains aren't worth the cost??

With the Injen CAI, you have to replace you windshield washer reservoir with one they supply you but other that you remove the same things as you would with and SRI. Difference with CAI is you get a cooler air intake charge and thus more HP. And it sounds meaner.

Stillen CAI will require you have additional tool to permanently cut away part of your intake duct. Injen will not a little easier, while yielding similar, if not better, result.

CAIs usually give better performance because it uses cold car, away from the hot air that emanates from the engine. Usually costs a little more that SRIs.

SRIs has a higher chance of sucking up the warm air from the engine, so the performance gain is not as great as CAIs. But it's easier to install and cheaper.

Check out the review on Injen's CAI:

i agree, CAI gives you a little better gains and with proper tune and insulation it all comes together.

Here are my stillen gen 3. the cutting was a shock at first but it was so minimal and easy that it was totally worth it. The filters are right behind the grill for maximum cold air. Only downside i see is that you can't take it to the automatic car washes. which i don't anyway so it all works out.

You're fine even with Auto Car washes, I do it all the time. Grille fins are angled in a way for water not to get in.

yea and its really about being submerged in water more than the filters getting moist. i had CAI in my 35 with the same fear but it was fine, even drove in some bumper touching flood water (scary).
