Review Takeda Short Ram Intake
Takeda Short Ram Intake
Well first off, let me thank Andy @ HPauto for helping me purchasing these, had a couple others on the market to choose from but decided to pull the trigger on something new! Package came from UPS yesterday (on time
) and had them installed that evening but didn't get to take pictures until this morning. Packaging was great , lots of bubble pouchies!
Install
Instructions were great, pretty straightfoward (its just intakes). Took about 30-45 minutes , little longer than usual for me cause there was some cutting needed on the rubber tubes provided (it'll be in pictures), and a little bit of sanding on the heat shield but no biggie at all (pictures).
Appearance/Look
I have to say these babies look pretty badass, imo. I don't know about you guys but I like how they put the logo on the top and the MAF sensor on the bottom. Also, the polished tubing and filters really brightened up my engine bay. No scratches , dings , or chips on these babies.
Sound
Havent heard any of the other intakes in person for the G37 so I can't really compare , but these do have a really noticable, throaty, and nice growl (hear it outside and inside car) especially when you open up the throttle.
So all in all the intakes are great, nice growl, looks awesome, and from the feel of it the throttle seems a bit more responsive, smoother, and definetly feels like it pulls harder in the rpms (butt dyno ftw
). Most of you probably want a dyno sheet because of the claims, I'll try to schedule something next week, but until then here are some pics I took. Sound clips are soon to follow. Enjoy!

Little bit of the sanding required on heat shield to make it fit

Some cutting required on the tubes, about 1 inch too long but easy

Some compliments of Takeda : Keychain, Discount Card, and License Plate
, oh and extra stickers

Umm I doubt there's 20 pounds of torque does feel a little bit more quicker once you floor it, I'll get a dyno around next week hopefully, hoping for some gains, even half of what they claim would be more than enough for me, but I mainly got these for the look and sound , and for the hook up price I couldn't resist
I thought takeda intakes were going to be the same size as OEM? Maybe I'm thinking of something else. They look great either way!
EDIT: Just found a thread with a post that says "the injen SRI reuses the factory rubber tubes that have the ribbed part in them. The Takeda's go all the way up to the throttle body."

no doubt they look great. but there is not way in hell these things make 18hp and 20lb tq... never going to happen with short rams sitting in a hot *** engine bay. not even cai are going to make that

Nice set! Great looks (like the MAF on the bottom), sound, quality, protection, maintainability, extras and overall price. I'm sure these will definately be one of the best intakes availalbe.
Great minds think alike
, I think it helps the sound too. Forgot to ask, is there a venturi on the tube where the filter attaches or is it straight pipe.. by venturi I mean funnel similar to JWT's?

No venturi, they have a modfied velocity stack built into the filter housing to help accelerate air speed.
LOL that was going to be my first reply earlier when I first saw the thread but I didnt want to say anything then I look stupid if im wrong. I just figure it would be the same as JWT fitting under the thing but I guess I should have said something.
