Just ordered an Ichiba Y-pipe.
OK, this is the second time I'm typing this up so it may be shorter of a review then the first one.
Installation:
Very easy to put the pipe on. Had a little trouble getting the stock nuts to come off but nothing a breaker bar couldn't handle. I had the car up on ramps in the rear and 4 jack stands in the front for safety. The Ichiba y-pipe itself had no problems going on.
Performance:
Seat of the pants possibly feels a slight increase in power. Mostly in the mid-range. It was a nice cool night out after the install so that could also be the reason for the increase. I did not do an ECU reset because I haven't really read up on the procedure quite yet.
Sound:
For those who missed it, I'm mating this up to the factory system.
Sound increase is very minimal. I can tell that there is a little something extra but I just can't put my finger on it yet.
Anyway, I had typed up a much more detailed review on this last night but unfortunately my browser crashed. I just don't have the patience to type all that up again.
If you guys have any questions.. lmk

Day 1 report.
Drove with the Y-pipe on for a full day today and got a better feel for any gains this pipe may offer.
I can definitely tell that there is a slight increase in TQ through the low/mid range. This is very slight but very pleasant
so I am pleased.
Sound seems to have gotten slightly louder today compared to when I first installed the pipe but this again is very minimal.
Is it worth $250+?...
mmmmmmmaybe not. I would have been more comfortable paying around $150.00 for this pipe and the increases that it offers.

People usually just buy mufflers coz they want extra sound with minimal gains, then they start getting greedy and want more (hey, its human nature) so they go for y-pipes.. that bug is still biting but hey, no midpipes available yet so guess, which is they get it custom made lol
next thing you know they're wondering why the f didnt they just buy a whole catback from the beginning
haha

hahaI wish there were an exhaust system out there which would increase the sound of my exhaust just by 10% and at the same time produce power. I would be very happy w/ that.
You know my goal for this project Sam has been to get the most HP/TQ with the least amount of sound. Back when I was younger I had a Subaru WRX. I just went wild with that thing. It was really loud & quite honestly after a while I was just plain TIRED of it. Now a few years later, a little older and more mature, I'm looking for something more discreet. That is the reason why I started my exhaust modifications from the Y-pipe.

Day 2. More noticeable increase in TQ throughout mid-range. It seems as if the ECU is adapting to this modification. Sound has also gotten a tiny bit louder, I wonder if it's because I cleaned my ears this morning...
Day 3. I'm guessing as the ECU adapts to this modification the engine is responding positively.
I now feel a definite increase in TQ through the mid range and even up top. I am becoming more and more confident that the y-pipe was a positive investment.
Also sound has continued to increase. Again, not by much but it is now more noticeable then before.

you might not feel that the y-pipe is worth ur money now, that's because u bought the exhaust system backwards, most people start from the tip to the engine....ur starting ur exhaust mod somewhere in the middle...
once u get a catback and hfc's u'll be extremely happy with the y-pipe..haha but then u'd have nothing to compare it with...
