ya im still scared of anything that isnt dyno tuned specifically to each car. theres just so much variance engine to engine from the factory.

 

Alright enough of this, it wasnt the intake. Stillen takes alot of heat on this forum, and often times it's not fair to them.

Your friend has a EBAY CHIP installed by some shop that he thought was LEGIT. So out of goodness I would change the thread name. The Stillen 3G is not a good intake, its a great intake from all reviews. This thread should be named "HELP:EBAY CHIP=OVERHEAT"

Never heard of an intake causing overheating in my life. It's something else, my guess would be the thermostat being stucked closed. I've had other cars have the engine temp skyrocket and every single time it was the thermostat. But could be something else man, but I am 99% sure it's not the intakes, unless some of the packaging got stuck in the inside of the tubes prior to install. But I doubt that happened either. Hope it's not something major. Good luck.

 

did you unplug any fan plugs while installing the intake and forgot to plug back in? Sounds more like thats the case if anything. Maybe you disconnected a ground somewhere? Im pretty sure the intake wont cause the car to overheat, Ppl put a full front mount intercooler and dont have problem like you do

G37Sam please post back if you found out what the problem was.. i am getting the intake too and i want to make sure its not the one causing the problem (though its highly unlikely)

 

There's absolutely no need for this thread.
A) It has nothing to do with the intakes. they change the temp. 0 after install. I'm blazing around AZ just fine, and at normal running temps.
B) Your buddy's Chip situation is as questionable as our president elect (had to throw it in there )
C) check the install, Cutting is required to fit the pipes threw the stock inlet openings and there are many lines running to the radiator in those locations, not to mention the A/C etc.. Plus I unplugged 2 clips near the radiator to gain better access when cutting, so check those too.

It's a simple solution really, dump the chip, check the install and all plugs/connections. Then enjoy the growl and mad HP gains!!

P.S. if the intakes where causing havoc, why is there no S.E.S.

 

Like others have said, I would check the install first and if that is not it I would disconnect the chip that was installed. The chip is probably tuned for stock intakes which might cause problems. You might want to check with the shop that installed the chip.

yeah.. and your name should be changed to tfm@stillen!! the "ebay chip" you're talkin about has been on his car for more than i could count and his car was running perfect that even the dealer couldnt bicht about it when sent for service

 

i've contacted forged performance and was told that cobb AP has been only designed for the northern american region, I'd have to disconnect my ECU and send it over to the US for me to get an accessport
