Save money! Buy Mods! So you're guys are talking about money huh. Well I had a g35 Coupe, in the past 3 years parts and labor in and out of the car (cause i switch things alot) I spent 60k. In this year of 08 since Dec-07-Jan I spent 36k in the car. Went from a Procharger Supercharger to a HKS GT Supercharger. Then now till this date which is very short I just bought a brand new G37 3 days ago and now parting out my G35 and selling it Damnn typing that makes me feel stupid looking back hahaha.

So now back to newb status, uggghhh....intake..i cant decide between this intake and the jwt I wonder how hard is it to install? Wonder if Stillen does the install too if I take it down there since I'm local.

a JWT dyno and Stillen 3G intake dyno have been done but on a modded car. Stillen got like 11hp and 4tq, JWT got 5 or 7 hp on top of HFCs and FI exhaust.

If I were you, wait till I do my dyno on Saturday, then make a decision.

Well, the conversation soft of drifted to maxing out you plastic and ignoring your responsibilities to buy a mod.

If you've got $60K in pocket change to spend on mods, pull the motor and have it built with pressure and the whole bit. You'd still have enough change to have Eibach or somebody build a one off suspension AND have enough left for psychiatric help!

If I hand that kind of pocket change for mods, I'd be looking at something other than a G37.

I agree, if you were that loaded why bother with an Stillen intake just Twin Turbo it. For $60k you should be running at least high 9secs.

I'm jealous!!

I guess there are those that spend $$$ on a Ferrari and never own a wrench in their life.... and then the ones that spend it on a stock tuner car and enjoy the challenge and results of tuning it!

looking forward to the Stillen Gen3 Intake stock gains! It's going to be at 7500rpm i think
h
question on the Stillen intake splash guard: does having it off improve performance?

if you look at it from a pratical sense , your gain is nominal. If I lived where it doesnt rain or snow then I run without. Otherwise keep it on to keep out the wet.

I think the tubes are probably long enough even if does rain, just as long as the fileters aren't completely soaked you should be fine without it in the rain IMO.

it will breath better with no guard on, or i guess i should just say with the guard off :0) anyways, I'm in AZ, so i could get by with no guard, but the time and effort it would take to add the guard during monsoon season is not worth the minimal gains of having it off. Plus, when washing the car, you don't want to get the filters soaked. The guard is an extra layer of protection, so why risk it? Based on bboy's dyno, you weigh the options, 12 or 13 hp (1 or 2 hp gain with no guard maybe ) and possibly replacing the engine, or 11hp and no engine trouble. Keep the guard on!

It's not just the water.

I spend a lot of time on the interstate. It's PITA to get the bugs off the car.

I'd hate to have to pick bugs and their guts out of the filters.
