Injen install

I'm getting ready to install. I've red through the posts and have only one question. Are you supposed to remove the fake inlets on the bumper? I saw one pic with them removed and it looked to make the filters very prone to water, dirt and debris.

Definitely do not remove them. That will just expose them to everything you don't want the filters exposed to. If you want more airlflow, you can just replace those pieces with some mesh cutouts, but that can sill leave them open to water.

guy's thanks for the input. I didn't think that was a good idea but it will add alot of cooling air. So I've decided to make mesh screens for the fake inlets and develop covers to slip in incase of rain or a river crossing.tee hee! Sounds like a good idea, any vendors readindg this? Max, what do you think, that would be perfect when you go to the track? It really won't be that hard. Use your influnce big boy.
No base line dyno. I'm running Stillen's longtubes and F.I.'s HFC's and exhust. It hauls #$$. A reflash will make good use of all that free flowing air. That's next. Then the dyno.
UNV-IT46 made a great DIY on 1-21-08 for bumper removal, check it out and Max did a great one too.

Yo... Yes thats a great idea... You will see a huge increase in air at the track... but still beware... even with the OEM covers in.. and a heavy rain on the interstate with no puddles... I had water all over my filters and the lower part of my tubes.... That was a change I wasnt going to take anymore... So just make sure you setup, when its slipped in for rain, is water tight... Id rather be safe than sorry...

Have u installed yet?

No Max, that's on my schedule for this weekend. I'd think that maybe some of your wettness came from the open oem inlets. Do you think that might be the case? I'm removing the bumper so I can play around with my idea. Being water tight is high on my priorties list. I'll keep you all posted.
