So a couple of questions:

1-) What is your currect setup?
2-) How the Y-Pipe changed your sound or tone?, I'm worried about changing too much and then having a sound that I may not like, or even worse, too have the "drone" issue with my 5AT.

Thanks in advance.
i have stock except for the 2.5 y pipe. sound has not changed much. a little more throaty but not much at all. cant really tell in normal driving.

This forum is like bizarro world. I would not for a second consider a y-pipe setup over duals especially when duals come stock! This is a major step backward IMO.

I think your bizarro. The car comes stock with a Y pipe...... We have just replaced the 1.75 pipe with a 2.5 Y pipe. Design itself is no different....

Nothing covers it. But it is a small section a "neck" as it were it splits into duals. I think that having true duals all the way up would reduce a lot of the low end torque on this car.

I think it would depend on the diameter of the true dual design. Right now. my y-pipe is just a bit more than 2.25 but goes into 3 when it meets up the mid-pipe.

down low yes, i noticed it to be a bit more lagging. but up high it feels as if it pulls harder. I am doing the dyno run in a couple hours. I didnt get a chance yesterday as i had to finishes dyno tuning a car that needs to be sent back to the customer in another state.

or a 135i where the power starts to kick in at like 1.6k rpm. that thing would beat us off the line for realz.

I just received a call from Hector himself, he told me that the guy that installed the Y-Pipe on Monday (I think it's UNT-IV46) just dynoed the car, and he had 8WHP more with just the Y-Pipe and OEM Exhaust. WOW. Well I ordered mine this morning and I think he already finished it and'is sending it to me maybe tomorrow, JEJE.

He also told me that he finished his first full catt-back exhaust and it sounds incredible, he is preparing the videos for You Tube and will send me the link and pictures, will keep you posted.
