I don't think I have it "yet" but is there a sound clip somewhere on this?

Don't be so quick to dismiss the raspiness as normal. The raspiness really shouldn't be there either. On my previous G the sound was not raspy. When I replaced my first muffler on my G37, there was no raspiness on the new muffler untill recently (about a week ago) and then the imfamous outright rattle made it self known.

Also it is not just on start up. Driving around under load with your windows down, you can hear the buzz (rasp) reverberating off of walls of buldings, tunnels, and cars- although t than at start up. There is something in the muffler that breaks or comes a part and vibrates at certain RPMs (between 3000 and 4000 under load) and at cold idle.

This is not acceptable for a 40K car.
I hope that this is addressed for good on the newer mufflers.

So is it confirmed that Infiniti acknowledged and FIXED the problem for the Feb build? Someone should find out...Who would i contact to findout - I hate the runaround. Is that what the build revision was primarily for? They should issue a recall and replace all ours with the "new build" this is hogwash!!! Im gonna begin launching with my car a lot this summer - get the muffler to push its limits see if she budges.

HAHA, i just posted a lil earlier... check it out
https://www.myg37.com/forums/intake-and-exhaust/178972-sound-clip-of-the-infamous-muffler-rattle.html

I've had that clip since November, but had only intended to show it to dealer since at that time i was the only one (or so i thought) with the issue.
Finally found the video cam, downloaded the vid to my comp and then it was off to youtube!

Might post a video clip of it in my parking garage at work so you can really hear it, unless someone else posts up a good video of it.

From what my dealer tells me there is no newer build. I will look at the part number on my newest invoice and compare it to the invoice I got from the first replacement to confirm.

Your delaer is playing dumb.

You should contact infiniti customer service, there is without a doubt a new muffler built & it is quite diff.from the last one's.

There is a new muffler is extremly quiet, & was built/manufactured after 02/01/08.

unless you have the ("new build") you will continue to have this problem.

I don't really care if there is no tsb, step up & handle problem directly with dealer/manufacturer.

Still don't believe me contact infiniti customer service & speak to Paula Laver.

CSR rep with infiniti, she can help you.

My parents just bought a non sport model built in 01/08 & they were already told about the muffler, & dealer already ordered new muffler without them even getting the car yet with 38 miles.

Mike would you recommend calling Paula Laver and initiating the process to get the new muffler even if the rattle hasn't shown yet? It seems so widespread that I am assuming it's just waiting to happen on my exhaust.

However my dealership would probably require me to reproduce the sound before they made a move in getting me the new build muffler right?

Lastly when you say the new build is quieter does that mean that it doesn't have the raspy cold start? Also at higher revs and on the road does it not sound as sexy as the original muffler? In other words does it take away from the exotic exhaust note we normally had? Either way I am probably gonna wait till late summer so that both
a) i get the rattle with some hard driving lol and
b) the new build will be more common information and the exhaust rattle will be more "recognized" by Infiniti service rather than them
playing dumb!

good idea?
