You should contact infiniti customer service, there is without a doubt a new muffler built & it is quite diff.from the last one's.

There is a new muffler is extremly quiet, & was built/manufactured after 02/01/08.

unless you have the ("new build") you will continue to have this problem.

I don't really care if there is no tsb, step up & handle problem directly with dealer/manufacturer.

Still don't believe me contact infiniti customer service & speak to Paula Laver.

CSR rep with infiniti, she can help you.

My parents just bought a non sport model built in 01/08 & they were already told about the muffler, & dealer already ordered new muffler without them even getting the car yet with 38 miles.

hey Mike,

Here is the part number for the old one and it is the same thing they replaced it with on my car 20100-JL01A

Can you check out your invoice and let us know what you see as the part number. If you have a new part number this might help us get the dealer to get us that part number.

I know that my dealership stocked up on replacement mufflers when this problem began to take place. I wonder if they need to unload them. I would think that they could send them back to Infiniti if they are defective as opposed to installing them and causing a reoccuring problem.

Lotta good info here in the thread guys. Keep it goin. Mike, i'd be interested in the what the two guys above me asked for as well.

I FINNNNAALLYYY got my muffler replaced yesterday (2nd one) and they played dumb as to the new build also. My part # is also 20100-JL01A like Kahbooms post above me.

While i was there i got the 15K service and as part of it was charged for a rotation and balancing of the tires, however i kno for a fact that this did not happen because i have distincting markings on my wheels that let me know they didnt rotate for sure.
VERY PISSED off at them, hmmm... maybe i should look up that 800 number and talk to Paula about this. sheesh.

The tires can't be rotated due to difference in F/R size and a rotation direction.

unles they did it left to right and visa versa by taking the tires off the rims- which isn't a bad idea on these cars.

Actually, it would be, for the stock Bridgestones on the Sport Package. They are directional. They have an outside mounting indicator so they can not be L/R swapped or F/R swapped. I don't know about the other versions.

From the Manual

"Tire rotation (Models equipped with
different size tires on front and rear)
Tires cannot be rotated on this vehicle, as front
tires are a different size from rear tires and the
direction of the wheel rotation is fixed for each
tire."

If you continue to read it also says you cant put a front wheel on the rear axle. Different width.

For the poster who got charge for rotation, I would ask , giving them the benefit of doubt. As in, " Don't you mean Balance only?" If they say, rotation, Demand a full refund and some concessions for them trying to rip you off.

Outside and directional are two different things. If you're swapping L/R, the outside of the tire is still facing outwards (unless you're removing the tire and remounting it on the wheel, which makes no sense), and the only thing that changes is the direction (in which the OEM's are NOT directional) so it should be ok... but pointless.

True... and you never want to change the direction of tire after you have driven on it for some time. It will tear them up pretty good and you will have a rougher ride.

Either way, Rotation is not really for this car. But back to the topic. My 2nd rattling muffler is worse when cold but better (barely noticeable) when warm.
