^^You need to unload the spring before that pin will come out. With left hand, depress the pedal to the floor. With right hand, work the pin out, to the left. It requires a bit of contorting to get at it, and equally important, good lighting. I use one of those 12V lantern things that really lights up the area well.

If you're a big person or not flexible, get a helper to help with the depressing of the pedal.

Hey jsolo, I got my spring but the spring that's already on isn't yellow...

 

^^Color doesn't really matter as much as spring rate. Can you compress it with your hand? If not, then it's stock. Not all of them are painted. In fact, the other side of my stock one is just a grey metal color.

Awesome installation instructions and wow what a difference. Holy smooth sailing. So much more fun to drive now. No more guessing where the clutch is engaging and butter smooth shifts. Thanks Jsolo.

Also as a side note for anyone who has trouble sliding bottom pin all the way back in (I definitely did), I used a mini flat head screwdriver and wedged it in where c clip would go (the divot in the pin) and pried it further using the spring holder as leverage on the screwdriver handle.

 

^^If you work the pedal slightly while pushing the pin in, it'll help to more easily align it with the bracket and pass all the way through.

received mine the other day and installed today after work. went for a quick test drive and so far im impressed. i feel like now i know where the clutch is engaging. definitely should have had this feel from the factory!

 

Finally got to putting my spring in today, took 5.5 minutes and feels like a whole new car lol. My girl drove it and instantly asked why it felt so much easier. Win!

 

Installed my new clutch spring today, didnt take long at all. NEW CLUTCH SPRING! Where have you been all my life?! I cant believe I didnt do this earlier. My driving got sooo much better.

One thing I've noticed is that when you first start to press the clutch, about 1/8th of the way theres no resistance. Is this normal?

@masterk1, some play is normal. There's slack in the linkage, plus you don't want it adjusted so tight as to result in the clutch not fully engaging. Depending on miles and age, it probably wouldn't hurt to bleed the line either. If I had to guess, I'd say I have about 1/2" or so of freeplay in mine too.

I'm coming from the 370Z board and I just bought a 2011 370Z convertible. I've been driving stick for around 20+ years now and this car makes me feel like a first-timer. I actually stalled the car today which sent me in search of a fix for the clutch. Just to make sure, can you confirm your springs will fit on my Z?
