Just bought the G37S INSTEAD of the 335i
Having just made the decision to purchase the G37S over the 335i, I thought I'd share my thoughts. I couldn't get enough of these threads when I was trying to decide...
For some background information, my last car was an '05 G35C 6MT.
I am very happy with my decision. I spent the last 6 months or so researching both cars extensively. I really went into it with an open mind, and the price difference between the two did not factor into my decision.
The 335i looks nice on the outside (a little conservative though), especially the front end; however, it looks terrible on the inside. I felt like I was driving a car from the 80's. iDrive is not user friendly at all. First thing I noticed on the test drive(s) was the torque! The bimmer is super fast in a straight line - definitely more so that the G; this was my favourite thing about the 335i. I was a little underwhelmed with the cornering capabilities, but maybe that had to do with the 18inch wheels and poorer rubber. Road feel was not as good as I was expecting. The open differential felt a little unpredictable when trying to hang the back end out on corners.
The G37S exterior looks fantastic (IMO): exception being the front wheel gap and the fact that the front end is a little too rounded. I love the interior: looks very luxury, but still imparts that "cockpit" feel. Very intuitive controls and nav system. The stereo is OK, but I was hoping for more here (the audio system in my Acura MDX is significantly better). The G37S feels much quicker than the G35, but certainly not as quick as the 335i. Handling is awesome in the G. Somehow it is both more comfortable (with less road noise) AND better handling than the G35. In fact, I prefer the Infiniti's handling to the BMW's.
I'm 100% happy. I wouldn't have gone for the BMW even if it cost a few thousand LESS. What really sold me on the G37 was the handling and the styling (both inside and out). With a bit of a drop and some different summer rims, it'll be almost perfect...
BTW, thanks to everyone on this forum who contributed to my "research"!

G37 > 335i... with the price of the 335i you can make your G37 faster than the 335i. All you need is a Twin Turbo kit and you will blow any 335i away and for handling?... im sure their are some mods you can do for that. Congrats and Welcome!
I'd have to disagree (as much as I hate to, as I drive the G, and my wife drives the MDX). I've tried all different settings: fade, soundstage, base, treble, etc. To me, the sound just seems a little bit flat in the G (as compared to the Acura). I've mainly been listening to XM and ipod; I'll have to see what it's like with CD's (mind you, I also listen to XM and ipod in the MDX). I'm not saying that the sound is BAD, just not as much of an upgrade from the G35 as I was hoping...
I came to a very similar conclusion. I owned a 2007 BMW 328i in sedan form and wanted something a little more sporty with more power (the 328i is really, really slow compared to the G or 335i).
Originally, I wanted the BMW... there is something about a BMW that is special (maybe it's the really good marketing department
) and I loved my 328i. However, I was at a friend's house and his neighbor had just purchased a BO G37s. It was BEAUTIFUL in every way... at every angle it is fantastic (unlike the 3 series which is butt ugly from behind
). After seeing the inside of the G, I was bothered every time I sat in my 328i. The interior was really out of place for a $50,000 car (Cdn).
I test drove a G37s and was sold. It handles great, soaks up bumps very well for such a tight suspension, is quiet (except for the exhaust note which is pure sex) and it is so fun to drive. I drove both and decided on the G and have been so happy I did. IMO, it is the better car even if they were equally priced. The great thing is my G was $14k less than a comparably equiped 335i (I got a deal on a 2008) so no only do I get the better car but I also get to save a few hundred bucks a month... gotta love Infiniti!

My buddy just purchased a 335i 2days after i got my G37. Besides the fact that his has 180miles on it and wont start anymore, I would pick my G37 anyday over the bmw. First of all, the only advantage the bmw has over the g37 is acceleration. Is that what everyone cares about? Should have gotten an evo or a sti instead then. Look, the 335 is so unrefined if you ask me. the Pos is bumpy, noisy, and when you accelerate hard, its so jolty. its like riding in a civic. Please, dont even compare the bmw with the infinity. the interior of the bmw looks like its from the freeking early 90s. the Navi looks stupid, the I Drive is so retarded to use, not to mention the dull looking interior. The outside of the bmw looks like a regular car, so flat, no curves. the g37 straight up looks like a sports car. The only thumbs up i give to the bmw is a better back seat, and their system sounds a tad better than the infinitys bose system, especially when you factor in that we got 10inch subs in our door. I at least think there should have been more bass in the Infinitys system. Ok, the bmw might have a 2 mpg fuel advantage over us, cause of the forced induction vs NA set up. But I still Love my G37

The 335i is faster, but the G37 handles better IMO.
