Go sit in a G37 and you will definitely know what I mean by noisy about the 335, and its not the tires. the gauge cluster on the bmw is sooooo plain jane, looks just like the 92 Bmw 325 that was given to me for free. the drivers window switch is really retardedly placed. All I really give a thumbs up to bmw is the speed and the handling is a better if you get the bmw sports package, but its one hell of a bumpy ride with the sports package, the infiniti sports package even with the 19s ride like butter.
Admittedly I've had more problems with my BMW than I had with my G35. No doubt there. I just don't think its as bad as you made it out to be. I've heard people complain about the window button, but I can't say I've ever thought twice about it. I suppose it could be a little closer. Touch screen is definitely nicer, although I can't stand the fact that you have to be stopped to operate the Infiniti nav. I have the sport package on my BMW and really have no complaints about the ride, although I'd expect a sport tuned car to ride a little tighter. I've only driven a non-sport G37. Again, no arguments on the interior of the BMW, although I'm not sure I'm entirely sold on the purple/red illumination in the G. Maybe it will grow on me.

Just to clarify, I started this thread not to bash BMW, but rather to give my opinion on the two cars, based on my test drives. I have to say, it was not an easy decision for me. I feel that both the G and the 335 are awesome cars, with each having their own advantages. I simply felt that the advantages offered by Infiniti outweighed those offered by BMW.

Having driven the G for a couple of months now, I love it more and more. It has plenty of power (although certainly not as much torque as the BMW), great handling, and deluxe interior. The iPod interface is a huge plus for me, as well. The only thing which I think is slightly worse that in the G35 (my previous car), is that the steering doesn't seem to have quite the same road feel (it's somehow very slightly "mushy" in comparison). I do plan to install coilovers this spring, so we'll see if that makes a difference.

Another factor in my decision was in dealership service, as I consider this to be very important. My salesguy is fantastic. For example, when I had winter rubber put on, I didn't have time to drive it in to the dealership. So, I took my wife's SUV in to work; the Infiniti salesman drove a loaner SUV to my house, put two baby seats in the back (for my wife to use for the day) and drove my G in to the dealership to put the wheels on. When I got home in the evening, my G37 was parked in my garage sporting brand new Blizzak LM-25's! To me, this type of service is golden, and was a continuation of the type of service I got with my G35.

I'd like to think the level of service would be similar with the cars in this class, with maybe Lexus being at the top from the little bit of experience i've had with them. I had just ok service from the Infiniti dealer when I had my G35, although I think most of that was from the rather gruff service manager who even gave me a hard time when I asked for a loaner the one time. I'm sure these sorts of things vary by dealer and service dept. On the other hand I've not really had any problems with the service dept for BMW. They've driven out to both my house and work with a loaner to pick up my car. Sometimes the service guys aren't quite up on some simple things that I figured out via some of the BMW forums. And admittedly my car has had to visit the dealer quite a few more times than my Infiniti did in the 4-5 years I had it.

Congrats on the car though. I'm looking forward to getting one.

since im in the same boat, thought id chime in. totally agree with the op's thoughts. exterior on both cars is great. bmw has the edge in power, g37 in price. however, the interior of the 335 totally kills it for me. for buying a car thats $10k more, you would expect them to give a damn but thats the germans for you. you shouldnt be paying attention to the interior in their minds so screw em.

Fair enough, I'll bash BMW lol. I got a lemon 335i and left a bad taste in my mouth and will never buy one or step foot in a BMW dealership again. But I agree the G37S is so much nice inside and out. The BMW's interior is plain but I do miss the ambient lighting and the coral red leather.

Congrats on the G, I think you made the right choice, but in the end as long as you are happy!!! You driving it in the winter?

Yeah, I've got Blizzak LM-25's on the stock rims. For the last week or so it's been below freezing with about 10cm of snow here. So far, I'm impressed with the ice/snow handling as well as the ride quality.

Handeles really good in the snow. As long as it is not too deep if you start pushing too much with the front bumber it gets a bit more difficult.

Congrats man......but I have to disagree about the sound system. I have had two TL's with the ELS and an RSX type-s with the bose system, and the first thing I thought when I got my first TL was "they made a horrible decision getting rid of the bose system. No other stock sound system that I have had has been able to be that crystal clear and still thump when I am going 100mph with the windows down. No offense get a second opinion from a friend.

Also make sure you have the bose system....

Well I have 2 cents to throw in. I test drove an Acura RDX and the TL Type-S and the sound systems were GARBAGE! I was very surprised... I am not a audio freak, but I could tell a significant difference even from my Subaru WRX that even had better sound system than any Acura's I drove.

LOL I've had 2 STi's and the systems were garbage. I can't even imagine how bad the acura systems are.
