370GT shipping 12/21

Got word that my new Skyline is leaving the Tochigi factory tomorrow, 12/21, on a truck bound for Nagoya. They usually ship the cars via boat, but my sales guy worked it onto a truck which should help it arrive a few days earlier.

The biggest bummer is that I am heading back to Michigan for the holidays and won't get my hands on the car until January 4th at the earliest. But during this time the sales guy will be taking care of all the paperwork for registering the car and getting everything else in order. It still blows my mind that it takes at least one week, and often closer to two weeks to get a car in the customer's hands after the deal is done. Way too much red tape in this country.

Once back I will be picking her up and will be sure to post pictures for everyone to enjoy. At least I hope you will enjoy seeing pics of your JDM cousin.

By the way, here is what I ended up getting:
370GT Type SP, 6MT, Navi, Bose, Black on Black

Going to be a nice replacement for my 350GT and can't wait to get back in country so I can start driving the **** out of her.

Thanks for listening,

lolo300zx

Do you work for one of the Toyota group companies per chance?

In case you haven't been there, hit up Yamachan chicken wing restaurant just outside Nagoya Station, down the street from Bic Camera store. its right across from the Yoshinoya. Best chicken wings i've ever had.

Volnedan-san,

No I do not work for Toyota, and if I did I am sure that I would be shown the door for buying a Nissan. Nagoya is strong Toyota country, and for me all the more reason to buy Nissan. Just a personal thing I guess.

Glad to see that you have been to Nagoya and enjoyed with tebasaki (chicken wings). Damn good aren't they? Been here for going on 10 years and work for a medical device company, so I get to hear all the horror stories about working for Toyota and count my blessings that I don't.

You get over here much, if so let me know and we can meet up for some wings and beer.

Oh and BTW I am from the thumb of Michigan. Where about in the metro area do you live?

And finally, thanks much for actually posting a reply. Was getting a bit lonely with all the views and no replies. Sure hope I get a few more comments once I post pics of the new ride.

You probably already know this but when you get that Skyline over to the states you will be getting a lot more looks than us guys in our G37s. There is this guy at my work who has a 03 Skyline and he still gets looks and pictures taken of his car. All because of the Skyline name. It almost makes debagding the Infiniti a real possibility.

That's great to hear. The timing isn't too bad, at least you get to enjoy your holidays. If you had picked up your G before, you would probably end up thinking about it much.

Horror stories at Toyota ? That didn't sound good. I would've thought any dangers would be robotized/mechanized.

Thanks for the comments. Once I get back to Japan and pick up the car I will be sure to take some pictures for everyone to enjoy. If the weather cooperates, I will take some shots at the dealership with the new one parked next to my current 350GT. Really interested myself to see how the lines compare.

On a different note, stopped by the one dealership in town that has a GT-R in the showroom and what a sick ride. Just stood there dumbfounded for about 10 minutes taking it all in. Then the sales rep took me out to the back where they had a customers car in black. Let me tell you, the GT-R in black is out of this world crazy looking. Guess I had better start saving all the yen I can so I can get one in a few years.

Everyone have a great holiday season and I will be back in the new year with pictures of the new ride. It will be fun to compare the little differences between the Skyline and the G37.

Hai, hagime mashta.

I work for Denso, and its a lot of grueling hours, but not as bad as Toyota. I've been to Nagoya twice now, and its a pretty nice town. Not sure when I'll be back, but most likely it will be in the summer.

This past July I got to stay at Marriot Nagoya Station, which was amazing. Hopefully when I return I will be able to stay there again.

I live in Northville. If you're familiar with the area, I'm right near I-275/I-96/M-14 interchange.

Be sure to post pics, cuz i haven't seen too many Skyline versions of the G37.
