Cleaning Inside Engine tips

Recently starting the process of porting my upper and lower manifolds. And I discovered almost a nest inside my engine. I’m not kidding. I vacuumed most of it out but it’s still nasty in there (see photo). Any tips and tricks on cleaning this thing?

Leave it, it won’t hurt anything.
If it really bothers you the only thing you can do is use brakeclean and a small brush to clean it out.

oh sir, no way I can’t just leave it. I’m more curious about ways to clean those ports to the valves that I have blocked off in the photo. You think brake clean will be okay to use?

Yes it will be fine, but there’s really no point in cleaning those, they will be dirty again in a few thousand miles. Sometimes I start with penetrant (Wd-40) as it breaks up the residue, then finish with brakeclean.
