But mine look like they are HANSHIN. One thing I worry about is getting phony coils. When I see NISSAN coils for at least 2/3 less than what they are on Discount Nissan Sites, I have big reservations. Being the the HANSHIN are made in China, Nissan Charging over $100 a coil is a serious rip. I have found the HITACHI for 58.50 each.

I am planning to get my plug/coils installed by a shade tree. I did have a spark plug that I guess I didn't torque down enough that caused a coil fault. I would rather not have that happen. I now he would rather see me use factory. I doubt he would be happy if I brought over the R8 coils and the adapter to plug it in. As I mentioned the adapters are 175 for a set,
So Hanshin are 2007-2009 coils mostly found on HRs and early VHRs. Hitachis are 2010+ coils. This was a manufacturer super ceding move both coils are genuine. If you have a g37 go Hitachi.

Now for the R8 coils, they use the spark plug itself for "fastening" the coil is built specifically for this function to be used which is extremely helpful on retrofits. In theory any 4-5 wire coil WILL be an upgrade to the original ones. I suggest if you're not mechanically inclined to stay away from these. Any issue that you have to depend on others to fix can be a bad experience for those that are interested in any kind of retrofit.

I am on a bit of a time crunch. I want to get it done before my registration is up. I have to smog the car. My car seems to have the Hanshin's they have a V on the top. Perhaps they have been replaced before, but I doubt it. I found some used off a 2013, for $20 each, those ones are Hanshin as well. I can get the Hitachi's for $58 OTD. If the Hitachi's were better than the Hanshin's I would probably do that.

No disrespect but it doesn't look like you're being realistic. This swap requires some knowledge. Since you're in a time crunch and you're just looking for a fix, replace with factory ones.

+1 for @BULL 's comment. If it ain't broke, don't mess with it right before smog. Get a set of Hitachis and call it a day until that part is holding you back (FI etc)

From what I saw with using LS2 coils on my RX8, if the dwell settings aren't adjusted then you won't get the full use of the hotter coil anyway - maybe even less than stock. I didn't see any gains until I dialed them in properly with AccessTuner. That's a heck of a cheap, no-extra-HP mod to have to spend $1k to tune your car to use them.

I did order the Hitachi's. I also ordered NGK Rubelium Sparkplugs, PCV valve and O-Rings.

Some weird things happening though. 1st I cancelled one order because I found a better deal. They still sent me the stuff. They only hit my credit card for the PCV O-Rings. The Spark plugs came directly from NGK, but 8 of them came. I ordered 6. Since I cancelled that order,

I Ordered factory O-Rings and Hitachi coils from Concept Z. I got them an hour ago. The Hitachi coils were in the delivery box with just paper keeping them from being damaged. They don't look like Hitachi's they have the V on top and are marked HANSHIN. The only thing close to Hitachi is a sticker on the top that says IC0078 made in Japan. I could have bought used HANSHIN coils from a 2013 G37 for 20 each. I figured that the Hitachi's could be better. These were $58

I am still waiting on my order from Rock Auto, that is my PCV valves and NGK Spark Plugs. Looks like I will have 14 Spark plugs for a 6 cyl car. Depending on the outcome, I might just sell the extra ones. I have $330 in parts hitting my credit card.

I bought the adapter kit from the dude on Facebook
(Predrag Jevtic)
$150 shipped
R8 coils from rock auto (NGK)
$120 + shipping
Pull a stock coil pack out, and attempt to jam the R8 one in and... No dice!
I'm pretty heavy-handed in general, but I wasn't about to hulk smash these things in there.
So I start measuring...
The VQ37hr spark plug hole necks down too small too quick!
I'm super bummed, and out some cash.
Looks like I'm trying to return these parts and/or selling them to somebody with a VQ35hr.
