Should I turbocharge or supercharge my g37?
Hello guys,
so I want to add a supercharger/turbocharger for my g37 and I am confused on what should I add for the car. I mean, I will use the car as a daily and I definitly dont want it to explode. And can you add some recommended kits and to how many hp I can reach?
Thank youu

I don't recommend a forced induction (FI) application for the VQ37VHR as a daily driver. It increases heat and stress on the drivetrain, and the drop in durability isn't worth it for a vehicle that you count on for getting to and from work. The G37 already has more than adequate performance, and there are other upgrades (fluids, brakes, suspension) to consider before FI.
How much power do you want is the main question? Then go from there
For a daily I would say supercharger. The car should make less torque but still have some good hp numbers. Less torque is better for the engine itself.
I would go with SOHO motorsports or topgunz air to air kits only

The stillen supercharger kit in my opinion is trash. The couplings it comes with are not made well and collapse under boost. It well be difficult to hold consistent numbers and the air to water intercooler heat soaks fast.Do not buy the out of the box tune.
these other brands are basically the same setup except without the flaws plus much cheaper in price

Cheap
Fast
Reliable
You can only have two.
If you want cheap and fast, it won't be reliable.

As was previously stated modding a daily driver is not a good idea. Been there and done that. If you had another car to daily and this was just going to be a fun car then there isn't really an issue, however I have one word, and that is RESEARCH.

Where are you getting 20-25k from. I'd like you to itemize how much each thing would be. So then when you're done we can all say you're full of s**t.

Its a hard choice. I've been kicking the idea back and fourth myself... At first it was "strictly turbo" for me.. because of the hp numbers. Then I saw a lot of SOHO supercharged kits making 550+ w/stock bottom end. I'm also FBO so I wouldn't have to touch my headers or exhaust or anything... However this isnt my daily... Its my 3rd car. I have my jeep wrangler and my every day beater honda. I have a second motor im going to completely build so i'm more than likely going to go with their turbo application... but I've read a lot of good reviews on the soho supercharger kit as well. I should be posting my build here in the next couple weeks.
Agree with you @Broken_2008_G37 . SOHO or TopGunz kit are great set-ups. @jpowersjr2 isn't far off with the 15k figure. SC kit is anything from 7-8k, Clutch kit is another grand or two, fuel pump, injectors, tune, bigger wheels and tires, suspension; your costs will add up. 20-25k is in line with a built AT.
The kit themselves aren't as outrageous as they once were now that there's a few more options. Once you add in the cost of the supporting mods he's in the ball park.

(Some prices have changed slightly over time and labor rates are estimated for shops. Hours were obtained from contacting various ones.)
Any more comments you'd like to add?
A couple more things to consider before dropping a huge amount of money into a FI build.
- Do you have a open rear end? I have a vert with the TopGunz kit, I opted to have a Tomei 1.5 installed ( 950$ ish plus shipping including new seals and bearings, so about 1400$ all said and done )
- As much as we like to think it won't happen to us, be prepared and fully aware that even babied motors and hell built motors still go bang. So another spare motor to replace is around 1500$ - 2000$ ( I have a low milage complete motor for if or better yet when my goes ). This is assuming you can install it yourself if not need to factor labor
TLDR - fully research your options and what you are willing to spend then add a few thousand to that for issues
Good luck

That was a mic-drop moment if ever there was.
