When did you flush your transmission and differential? (10 year old car)

I bought a 2010(2011 model year). Its been 'well used', may track days, and retired a number of years ago. it finally 'burped' and required a new 'head' because the actuators 'crapped-a-brick' about 2 years ago. But, I have not yet, actually replaced the transmission fluid or differential fluid.

Granted, it'll never be a track car again (at least not with me). When did you replace your transmission fluid or differential fluid?

Personally: differentials and transfer case every 15k-20k, transmission every 40-45k.

I usually do every 70k km for the transmission and transfer case, and 50 k km for the diffs. Actually just did the whole car just 2 weeks ago. Dealerships will tell you not to replace tranny fluid and will claim its lifetime fluid. However, this just means lifetime of the transmission, not the car. Don't listen to them, replace your fluid lol.

I tried doing my diff but stripped the bolt, RIP. Guess I'm never changing it. Be careful when doing it yourself.

I almost did as well. I stopped, got a die grinder bit on my Dremel and knocked out some of the debris and rust that was messing up the bit. A bit of penetrating oil and came off like a dream. You can cut slots in the sides of the stripped hole and use a fat flathead screwdriver to get it out. Then replace with new drain/fill bolt

Never, ever flush your trans oil. Only drain and fill. If it's high mileage and it's auto, don't even bother changing it

I should add that you shouldn't flush the transmission, just drain and refill. If the car is over 100k, that's when you better just leave it alone or you will do more harm than good. This transmission isn't a typical slushbox. It has this multi-stage clutch system inside. The transmission fluid is full of clutch material and helps the whole thing work, if you do a complete flush with worn-in clutches, you may have issues with slippage. This is why after 100k, it is better to just leave it alone as that fluid becomes a part of the system. If you start doing fluid changes though, you can keep that interval of 50-75k and do a drain and fill. This will give you the most life out of that transmission.

@hexotic When you say over 100k, are you talking about 100k km or miles?
