Inside of windshield soaked
Inside of windshield soaked
I got in my car this morning and it had rained the night before and the front window was wet and the wipers didn't help so I got out and tried wiping it off with my jacket but found out the inside has most of the water. The back window was the same. I made sure no windows or the sun roof was open. Any idea why my windshield would have been so wet on the inside?
Was it actually water droplets or mist/fog? Does the car smell musty, or damp?
For the inside of the windows to have condensation (water) on them means there is moisture (water) inside the car. Could be residual moisture if it was a very humid day or if you spilled something. If there was A LOT of water, however, it could mean that you have the infamous "sunroof drain" leak problem that is becoming more common with these cars.
Here is what I suggest: Remove your floor mats and check under the rug and foam/fiber insulation (front/rear/driver/passenger) for water. If there is any water puddling at the bottom of the floorpan, your drain(s) are leaking. A search of the forum will offer more info on this topic.
IF that is the issue, it is a relatively easy fix but a real pain in the aşş to work on. And it is not a project I would put off longer than you have to.

It was definitely droplets. I never really connected the 2 but whenever it rains hard the rear driver's side floor is soaked. Come to think of it, my windows got a lot of condensation inside the car when I wash it with a hose. Could this cause electrical or mechanical damage in the long run?
Potentially, yes. Which is why I said that this is one repair I would not put off longer than necessary. Because of where the drains pass through the firewall, there are plenty of harnesses, modules, and other electronic goodies that can get wet. Rule #1: electronics and water do not play nicely at all.
Also, you will need to get out all of that standing water that may be accumulating on the floor pan. Remember, water will always migrate to the lowest point. Allow time for everything to dry out as fully and completely as possible. You do not want the metal to start rusting nor the car to start smelling bad.
Again. the repair is not overly difficult, but it will be a chore.

yeah, if temp is cool and you had standing water inside and ran the ac, maybe the humidity condensed on inside; otherwise, water on the inside would mean rain coming sideways at ~100pmh and coming through vents....
or as Surfnazi said...tilted roof...so yeah, it seems i see more of these leak posts, and probably as its happening to mine, im actively looking for them, but also the age of the cars and some of these design flaws will be more evident etc..good luck on fix and do check out the A/C line drain bypass method, may be worthwhile doing...

You're sunroof drain(s) are clogged
BillyTheMan, I'm 99.9% sure you're sunroof drain(s) are clogged. It's something of a known issue, and it's a bugger of a job to do, to be honest.
In my situation, before even addressing the issue I first had to pull up carpets, pull out at least several gallons of water from both the passager and driver side, and run a dehumidifier overnight.
I'd recommend checking out the multiple youtube videos on this topic:
