Motorcycle trailer on G37 Sedan question.

Hi you all. I have a Honda CRF250R dirt bike that id like to tow with my G37 sedan. I bought the bike and it came with a rack that goes onto a hitch that holds the bike parallel to the back side of the bumper. I already have a trailer hitch that I use for my mountain bikes. Does anyone know for sure or believe this would work fine? I have seen pictures of other vehicles (not many) that are mid size sedans that tow there bike around this way. The bike itself is roughly 240lbs. The rack is steel and about 60lbs. What are yalls thoughts? I will say the hitch i have bolts right up to the bumper support and rear tow hook (4 bolts to the bumper support and one bolt to the tow hook).

Here is a link to pics of the style motorcyle rack I have. https://www.google.com/search?q=dirt...IH12uUMT7VG4M:

Hi, I am a nkotb here however I have been towing with a g sedan for a long time. As long as you have the hitch properly secured to frame/chasis you will be ok with the load.
Securing the load as not to damage your car, that is on you Sir.

My set up is simple and weighs about 900lbs towing my track/race bike. The car tows it with NO problems. I get up to speed gradually and keep rpms at a 2.5 avg. I have seen other g's tow their bikes with uhaul mc trailers and I see prius' tow.

This is taboo to many car owners who cringe at this sight. I cringe at other owner's mods sometimes. 2 each their own

I was in your situation last year and decided against using the hitch carrier. The hitch you have installed mounts to the rear bumper which is made of 1/8" thick aluminium square tube. The way everything mounts to the frame creates alot of leverage on the tube and I wouldn't trust it. Maybe it will feel solid when stationary, but add in wind/drag on the freeway, uneven road surface, or worse a pothole and that's alot of risk for minimal reward.

A uhaul trailer is 15 buck a day which the g37 can tow no problem. My transmission doesn't like it though but ymmv.

You can also pick up an old suv and use the hitch carrier. I got a 2001 Infiniti qx4 for cheap , and you should be able to find good ones for under 2k. They're built well, last forever, and still have that luxurious feel to them although a little dated. Plus now I have a 4x4 suv to go camping/offroading.

I'm confused, the $15 uhaul trailer still has to be attached to the car somehow, no?

Unless I read it wrong, he already has a hitch which he's using for a bike carrier.
