i have a 2009 G37X coupe. i cannot open my trunk in the conventional method. the intellegent key does not open it, the dash switch does not open it neither does the release button on the trunk. all 3 do nothing. i was however able to lower the back seat and use the release pull from inside the trunk to open it.
does anyone have an idea of how i can maybe fix this myself to get into my trunk?

 

When you open your trunk there is a cluster of wires hidden in a rubber tube between the front of the trunk and the main body of the car. Should look something like: https://g35driver.com/forums/attachm...ired-trunk.jpg

Typically after many uses the rubber gets soft and no longer protects the wires it's hiding. Chances are you have a severed wire somewhere in this region. I know the pain, my trunk light and trunk position sensor were severed on my own car.

in the glove box is there a switch there? if there is flip the switch.

i know in my old G35 i had a trunk lock out switch there for when you valet your car so they cant get into the trunk. i cant remember if there was a switch in my g37 or not. the switch was to the left of the main glove box compartment.

 

the switch is there and I did try it hoping for the "easy"fix, but that was not the problem. than for the help.

The power to the trunk actuator comes from the BCM. If none of the regular methods will open the trunk - key fob, dash switch, external switch - then you either have a failed actuator, a broken wire, or a confused BCM (not likely or other things wouldn't work).

The wires going through the rubber boot from the body to the trunk lid get bent or slightly twisted every time you open and close the trunk. You should be able to pull back that boot and check for broken or frayed wires. If everything looks fine there then it could be the actuator itself.
