Fuel consumption

Hey guys.

I have 2010 G37 sedan Journey and I looked at my recent consumption and indicates 18.3 MPG.

I'm driving mostly home-work-home route with morning and evening traffic.

I assume it's a bit low, but might be acceptable since I'm using it mostly in traffic and there is also a hill at i405 on my way that will obviously requires more force.

What should I worry about when I have high fuel consumption?
Can you please share your consumtion in format highway/city/high traffic?
I have something like 25/20/18

Hey Bolishta,

I'm mostly city driving. Although, I drive when traffic is lighter.

I sit around 15 MPG average. 80/20 city/highway split.

I'm at around 21 mpg.

I do maybe 80/20 hwy/city driving. Not much stop and go at all. If I dropped my hwy mph from 80 to 70 I could probably do a lot better, but it's the flow of traffic.

18.3 MPG is pretty average given that you wade through traffic. Our cars are pretty heavy at about 3,700lbs so stop/go kills our efficiency. If your efficiency dips into the low teens, it could be a number of things...throttle bodies, fuel pump, lead foot, etc.

I'm averaging 20.3 mpg with 60% highway / 40% city.

There's already a big, fat thread dedicated to fuel consumption.
