MAF Sensor...To Clean or Not

I'm at about 70k miles and never cleaned the MAF sensors, only the throttle bodies. Was wondering if it was safe to clean the MAF sensors with the right fluid like CRC, etc. I've done this many times on my older Maxima with great results, but some of the G37 threads mention issues with the sensors getting destroyed in the process. Would appreciate any feedback or experience with cleaning these. Thanks!

No need for everyone to answer at the same time!
For those interested in this topic, I took the plunge today and cleaned both sensors with CRC MAF cleaner. It worked great and only took 10 minutes and the car runs great. Just follow directions on the can.

Mine's at 60k and I've cleaned my MAFs 3 times now using CRC MAF cleaner. Zero issues so far.

I also just cleaned mine with CRC MAF cleaner. Better gas mileage/performance with improved AFR.

Much better drivability overall. No difference in mileage....still lower than I want.

You're "supposed" to do it each time you change the air filters...

I did mine this weekend and it works fine. Sometimes when I do the one in my FX35 it throws a CEL, but after clearing it the light never comes back on.

I originally posted this a couple of months ago and I'm still really pleased at the results. One other trick to help with overall driveability was to have the 7 speed auto transmission fluid changed. The car now drives better than new.
