Car doesn't always start on the first try...

My wife's 2008 G37 coupe is having issues. I mention that its hers because although I drive it sometimes and I ride in it with her, I have never been in the car when it had an issue starting so I'm just going off the info she gave me (I also own a G37, but mine is running fine )

Anyway, when she hits the start button the electric starter makes no attempt to engage or get the engine going it just make the normal beep sound basically the scenario you would have if you tried to start the car without pressing on the break...but the break is pressed. She tells me that she will keep attempting to start it until the starter finally kicks in to start the motor and she says the most number of times she has had to hit the start button is 5. Usually it starts fine, but sometimes she has to hit the button a few times, but no more than 5.

We need to take the car in for 90k mile service anyway so what should I tell the mechanic to look for that may be causing this issue?

Thanks!

Brake sensor, I would guess. I think it's a physical switch that may just need to be adjusted.

Brother had this issue, its the brake sensor for sure. Engine wont start unless the ECU receives the brake sensor signal

Score! thanks. Is something I can do myself or should I run it by our mechanic at the 90k service?

My friend's fiancée had the same issue with her late 2000s Altima. It was the brake sensor.
