Coolant Q

I was just making sure my car had a dipstick and I saw the white coolant box. The coolant seems to be near the bottom of it, should I top it off or change it? Car is at 46000 miles and I bought it at 45500. Also what coolant do you guys recommend? Or should I just pick up some from an infiniti dealership?

It's a 08 coupe btw. Thanks a lot for the help!

The nearest infiniti dealer is pretty far from here. Would it be alright to get it flushed and replaced at a local mechanic?

No one has mentioned that the "white coolant box" is actually an overfill bottle. There shouldn't be much coolant in it. Look at the side of the box and you'll see lines for coolant levels when the engine is hot or cool. Both are pretty low, so DO NOT overfill this bottle.

Also, if you purchased it with 45,500 miles on the odo, check to see if the coolant hasn't already been changed. Fresh 50/50 blend should be added to the drained overflow bottle as well as the radaitor.

Ah thanks, I was worried this might be the case. Good thing I posted on the forum first! Quick question, how can I tell if the coolant was replaced and not just topped off? Thanks again, very much appreciated!
