Auto RX - I have used it in my '96 Maxima VQ engine with > 200K miles. I think it performed as advertised. It slightly increased my fuel mileage (about 5%)

I used the Redline full additive on my BMW and it made a noticeable difference in performance.

Do you have any experience with the products listed above on our cars?

If so, which products and what was your experience?

If not, what is the basis for your opinion they are an unnecessary waste of money?

Nope no first-hand experience. They supposedly do more harm than good for us.

See pages 385/386:

I have no research on this whatso ever but Im just not a big fan of throwing something in the oil or fuel to better performance. But then again some may work and be very helpful so who knows

If the products helped THAT much, they wouldn't be that cheap.

Think ebay electric supercharger and performance chips

Oil additives are not recommended for these engines and arguably do not provide benefits. See a previous post via search that will provide more info on what happens to oil characteristics when this is done. You're altering the formula of the oil which is not necessarily a good thing.

For fuel additives, I've use Redline Complete Fuel System Cleaner in the past with good results. I used it in a summer car (Corvette) that was known to have occasional fuel sensor issues but I never had the problem and used this cleaner about every oil change. I selected it because it's designed to be safe for all system components. You need to be careful as some additives are harsh and will damage O2 sensors or other parts.

Another additive that C5 owners used was Techron (the Chevron additive).

I've used BG44k in my 2005 QX56 with good results. My QX (sorry, my boss' [wife] QX) seems to run smoother after a dose of the 44k.

I've used MMO on my car.. and i noticed a difference. Shifts better and what not. I never used any additives before and it was my first. Totally felt a difference...

I know some JDM friend uses these on their cars.. this I dont know if it works or not.
