Wiper Blade Replacement

My 09 G37 needs to have the wiper blades replaced. I can't seem to figure out how to get them off with that black plastic/rubber cover in place. The black plastic cover I'm refering to is the wind deflector. Any suggestions??

Check out the do-it-yourself maintenance chapter in the owner's manual. There are illustrations and instructions for that.

Wiper Blades

The manual shows you how to replace the entire blade - I just want to replace the rubber wipe

What? Never heard of such a thing. Go buy some Bosch Icons and be done with it.

hes talking about replacing the feather only without changing the housing the feather sits on.. It pretty much slid right off the track and you coulda replaced it..

i used to do that on an older model back in the day... just buy a whole new wiper they are inexpensive nowadays...

That seems like it would be more trouble than it's worth. Are the replacement rubber parts only $1 a piece or something like that? Otherwise just buy the whole blade. Easy and they're probably not more than $20 each.

Dont even waste your time with that.

I had to do that on my cars back in the day. What a PITA.

Just get some Bosch Icons, you can usually find them bogo.

Yup, my Advance Auto Parts just had Bosch Icons "Buy One, get one 50% off", so I gave my girl some new blades. Seriously... just replace the whole beam. It takes literally 3 minutes for the whole job (and that includes opening the wiper packaging). The folks over at Advance will even install your blades for free if you want.

He is talking about refills to full blades a full blade will run you anywhere from 8-15 and a refill is about 3-4$ and not worth it at all imo

Refills are more trouble than they are worth.

Bosch Icons, or Valeo (TireRack has buy-one-get-one-free).

These should be the right ones:

Valeo ULTIMATE® Wiper Blades (Hook-Lock)

Of course, to be sure, just measure yours.

I ordered myself some Valeo's from tirerack after this thread. BOGO came to 28.51 shipped. Not bad.

So instead of telling this guy to go buy new wipers and not worry about the blades, nobody decided to chime in and actually tell him how to do it?

When you take off your wiper, use a small flat head screw driver, and from the back of the blade, lift up the blade itself and slide it out, backwards. That's where the locking groove on the blade is. (If your wipers are in the up position as to take them off, it's on the bottom of the blade). Take the refill, and use the gray retaining clips to keep the metal strips in place, and slide the refill in from the bottom up, with the locking groove on the blade in the back. The blade will secure in place and should not have much movement front to back, if any. It's very simple, and it should take less than 30 seconds per wiper to do your first time around. Sorry I don't have any pictures to make it easier.

Well, probably because none of us know how to perform such an idiotic procedure.
