Cold Start

I noticed this recently that when I start my car in the morning the RPM goes up to 2100 and slowly comes down. I have never seen it go up so high with out putting my feet on the accelerator. Is this normal for winter cold start?

Yep normal. I also let it sit for a few minutes to warm up before driving away.

^^ so you have to make a decision just like everything in life. preserve your engines life and virginity or start that bitch up and bone the hell outta there with your car and life.
Plus you live in La. i would feel safe sleeping in my car, but im from the bestcoast the westcoast Cali son. :]

In the morning, mine hovers at around 1400-1500RPM. I wait until it hits about 1100 before I go. I park in the garage too, so it may be higher if you're outside.

The best way to warm up is to drive slowly.
