Question on what the ECU reset will do..

My TPMS has been on since I got the car. I haven't had time to take it in yet, but when I picked up my plates, they said they would just have to reset it by hooking it up to a laptop. They were about to close at the time so I had to come in another time.

Anyways, does anyone know if the ECU reset trick will take off the damn TPMS light.?

Should, why don't you check your tire pressure.. Unless its faulty your tires might be low (<26psi I think the light comes on?) ECU reset should take care of the problem but if your tires are low or the sensor is faulty it will come back on with 50 miles after driving.

I've checked them many times, as did the dealer. The light is always on, never goes off, doesn't blink, nothing.

I thought you said you haven't had time to take it in yet? Well either way, you need to tell them to check your sensors and replace them if necessary. Try an ECU reset, sure can't hurt. Probably will solve the light problem temporarily but that's all I can promise.. It will automatically come back on once you start driving for a while. Maybe there is a fuse (doubt it, but maybe) that you could pull in the mean time.

When I went in to get my plates, they checked the tires, but they were closing so they couldn't reset it then. I've been out of town for business and haven't got back in. I did the ECU reset, and got it to work, but the light never changed! Oh well, I'll take it in next week. My dealership just has such **** hours. M-F 7-5.

Ah that's how they all are unfortunately. The Lexus dealer down here is actually open til 10 I think for service. They sell a hundred cars a week though so I suppose they have a reason to be open late.

I had the same issue. When I picked up the car (with winter tires on), the TPMS light came on after about 20 minutes. I went straight back to the dealer and they recalibrated the sensors. Took about 1.5 hours and all is good since then.
