U sure? They look like plain bolts to me? If you're right than that gives us a great idea of where to access it when mounted on the car.

Awesome you figured out how to remove the black stuff!

Wooo.. and yes, callaway, I'm sure

OK guys now that we know how to access the adjustment gear, please follow the procedure outlined here:

http://g35driver.com/forums/showthre...68#post2027668

when adjusting your lights, rather than doing it via guesswork. That way your lights will be aligned per DOT specifications.

Done. Looks much better. I wonder if they aren't actually a tad high. I followed the guide as best I could.

It is kind of hard to measure the height to the center of the lens. You guys let me know what you decide the lens height is... I decided on 27 inches.

So from 25', I set the lower cut off to just under 25"

Big improvement, like I said.

Uh, I hate to sound selfish, and I am happy you were able to adjust yours, any chance you could give us some pointers on how to accomplish this? Thanks.

Oh, sorry, I figured the pics showing how to remove the plastic were enough. I pulled on the plastic bits shown on in those pics until the fasteners "popped" loose. This exposed both adjustment "gears" easily visible to the eye. I put a philips screwdriver down into the gear teeth so that when I turn the screwdriver, it turns the gears. Then you just turn them until the lights are how you want them.

For the actual adjustment, I followed the DOT-based guide Redlude posted on g35driver.com. I posted the link just a few posts ago. I used my parking garage at work since I can easily get 25' from a wall on a flat surface in there. I just used measuring tape, painters tape and a bunch of trips back n forth to the car/wall until I got it right.

The hard part is knowing to remove the parts shown in the pics... once you have that part off it is easy, the adjustment gears are right there.

I'd be happy to help. What exactly do you need help with?

The "hard part". I plan on taking the pictures down to the car this weekend and trying to get to the gears. I just wanted to read as much about actually getting to the gears as possible before trying to find the adjustment gears on my car.

Making the adjustments is a piece of cake. I "built" a template on the back of the door into a repair shop a friend of mine owns. We put markers on the concrete, so it is simply a matter of driving to the correct spot and adjusting the lights.

You won't have any problem. See the two black fasteners in IP's first picture? Just pull up on the rubber part very close to the fastener and it will "pop" out. I tried using a flat head to pry it out but that was going nowhere fast so I just tugged on it and out it came. Once you get both fasteners to "pop", you can just pull up on the rubber piece like IP is doing in the picture, and the adjustment gears are there plain as day.

Mal_TX has explained how to very well, After lowering my car it changed the rake enough the low beams seem to point straight down about 15' out. I took it to the dealer and they had no problem adjusting them for me, even though I caused the problem with modified springs. They showed me how to do it and it is exactly like Mal_TX stated
