Cat delete with resonators
Cat delete with resonators
Heya all, had a question regarding my 2010 x sedan, i basically got this car last year with the previous owner having done a cat delete. Now one of the mufflers has a hole (sealed for now) in it and the other one is on it's way out so i was debating putting resonators on instead of new mufflers. Problem is that the exhaust is raspy as it is right now and i was wondering if adding resonators would make it better or worse, and if i should just find some cats and weld them back on when i do it.
So are you wanting to replace your cat delete with resonators or the mufflers with resonators? Either way it’s going to be difficult to completely get rid of the rasp without cats. Im assuming your car has non-resonated test piles so if you want to keep the cat delete, putting in some resonators where the cats would be, and some new chambered mufflers should be sufficient to quiet the rasp at cruising speeds. By any chance did the previous owner remove the OEM resonators on the Y-pipe?
Resonators instead of mufflers, with no catalytic converters? That might sound appealing at idle, but the moment you touch the throttle it will be horrible.
If you've the time and resources, go for it and decide for yourself. However, it sounds like you're on a budget, so my advice is to get an axle-back for new mufflers and call it a day. If the rasp continues (it will), consider a set of resonated test-pipes or resonated HFC.
