Brakenetic GT Rotors Review

I was looking for new rotors for my Q and had somewhat of a difficult time. My original factory rotors, got resurfaced twice and were rusted badly.

I first wanted some nice blank rotors, and found the Dixcel blanks, but trying to get them here in the states would be more trouble than what it was worth. Then I looked into two piece, but they have a very high cost and a very large air gap for the vanes meaning you are getting much less plate thickness which to mean is two things, cutting costs and to help shave more weight off to make it more light weight.

I found a company called: Brakenetic and read on the lexus and bmw forums how people liked them, there was even a post about them on the Q forum.

I gave them a shot and I am satisfied with the quality of the rotors. These are no DBA rotor, but seem to be well made. They have the correct plate thickness so there is no cutting corners there, unlike some rotors which have a large air gap.

I went with kit: BPRS88594 (For Q50 Sport Setup, rear's won't fit G, they make G kits)

These are G3500 grade cast iron so they have a little more carbon content and come in the sprinkle slot style with black e-coating applied everywhere were the pad does not touch. These are directional rotor, and they label each one.

I am using the OEM factory semi-metallic pads and they pair very well with these rotors. The pedal modulation is exceptional, its firm and linear and the brakes make no noise, they are extremely quiet. I think the factory pads are very good, they just get paired with a subpar rotor from the factory. I tried the Nissan Akebono blanks on my G when I did the BBK swap as well, and they were not great and had minor judder issues down the road.

I love the sprinkle slot design. It's completely gratuitous but I don't care, it looks cool.

Yes I think it looks very nice as well.

On my G when I did the BBK, heavy rain would cause very poor brake performance. I ended up putting Hawk Talon rotors on and the holes and slots help evacuate water from the pads and rotors quickly and fixed the issue. The ceramic pads I used, just struggle to heat up with such large mass rotors in cold and very wet weather. Which is why I think the factory semi-metallic pads work very well. They perform excellent in cold and wet conditions.
