Shift to park message while car is off & in park already. Constant beep
Hello, my car sat for about a year then turned on normal & drove normal. Later today when i got back home, it kept saying to shift to park although it was already in park & off. I checked BCM & it was fine ( no water damage ). It just kept saying to shift to park & had a constant beep when the car was off. Please help
After completing my transmission swap, I sometimes have this happen and have to wiggle the shifter around to get it to recognize it's in park. I haven't cared to take a look at it yet, but I'm pretty sure it's the shift linkage under the car not being bolted into just the right position, and it puts enough tension on the shifter that it sometimes doesn't trip the sensor. After sitting for a year yours may need to be adjusted or the rubber washers on it may need to be replaced if they have dry rotted.

See this thread. 99% of the time it is the inner control rod binding due to dirt, corrosion, etc. A few shots of WD-40 (or equiv.) usually loosen things up. I doubt the issue is with the control rod underneath the car.
I agree with what was previously stated.
My examples came after I swapped the transmission and painted my center console.
If the transmission is physically in Park and the vehicle is not moving then the Shifter is your issue.
There is a slider plastic that the rod goes through and the boot can get caught in it
Shifter rod down in the transmission has adjustment and will slide into park but not enough to for the shifter to register.
Shifter plastic could be broken
Shifter switch could be dirty or not making contact with the shifter plastic.
