Insurance says the car is fixable... what do you guys think?
Hi everyone, long story short my car was stolen last week and was recovered this week by the police and left at a junkyard. I've filed my claim with State Farm and sent them pictures of how the car currently is sitting at the junkyard. The claims person that I spoke with says based on the pictures the car is fixable as there doesn't seem to be any damage to the frame. But I've attached pictures of the car... please let me know what you guys think.
Car is a 2011 g37x with approximately 164,000 miles on it. I don't know if the car turns on but I do know it's missing two wheels I had originally on the car... the front one is a donut and the back one is not from my car. No one could tell me where that wheel/tire came from. I don't know much about the driver side of the car because it's pinned up against another car.
I appreciate any advice or opinions you can offer. Thanks so much!!
Not an adjuster, but if the broken sunroof isnt covered before it rains, i believe it will put you one step closer to being totaled. And there might be damage along the drivers side from that other car, it looks like they are touching in the pics.
There might not be any frame damage but the cost of new replacement parts (headlights, wheels/tires, body panels) alone will outweigh the value of the car. I don't see why it would not be totaled.
Where are you located? Seems like it would be costly for them to repair since it would involve sourcing all the parts and then painting as well. Give the mileage i can't think its "worth it" but they are right in it is repairable assuming it runs and drives
Sorry that happened… seems like a lot of G’s have been stolen recently. I’m no expert but based off of the current price of oem parts and then labor, if you were to take the money from the claim you’d might break even on the value of the car. If you know someone who can ‘do it cheaper’ or if you DIY the risk of paying out of pocket would be greatly reduced.
If I were in this situation I would cut my loses and sell it as is, part it out, or try to get insurance to total it.
I wouldn't worry too much- while the initial call is the G can be fixed, that's only the initial call. Once a shop gets it in for a more detailed look, their report will likely total it.
I did some research on g37 thefts, apparently it's really easy now. The police officer said that Kia's and g37's are the two most stolen cars here. All you need is a pirated copy of the Nissan consultation software and the proper hardware. The thieves can spam the car until the reader clicks and it can open the door then use the push to start.

Time to install that kill switch I’ve been meaning to!
