Shifter going past 5th & 6th gear

Replaced my clutch pressure plate and CSC. Now, the shifter will shift PAST 5th and 6th slightly which makes it hard to shift into those gears (have to sort of push up while moving back to center to get to 5th gear)

Any ideas?

There's a plate on top of the shift lever pivot assembly that has a blockout ridge for reverse. That's likely been moved when they pulled the transmission to do the clutch. It's a relatively easy adjustment from the top of the car (inside no less). Search for short-shift install instructions and you'll see the process to access it and pics.

Should just need a 10mm, other than what you'll need to get under the trim.

Did the work myself and I have seen that plate. Didn't tighten it all the way at first and it kept sliding past the reverse lockout lol. I'm guessing throw it into 5th/6th, unbolt it, move it over till when it hits, then tighten it all the way? Wouldn't that make it overhang over first and second?

Note the pin on the side of the shift lever and the not-round hole in the cover plate. This is what I'm talking about. To get into 6th, shift into 6th and snug the plate up tight on a playing card between pin and plate (car not running of course). It will make a LOT more sense with the assembly in front of you.

We cross posted but yes. In 1st/2nd it is hitting the shift linkage stop not the pivot cover plate.

I'd give it a *little* wiggle room - 3 pieces of paper or a playing card - to account for heat expansion, driveline slop, etc - when I did mine hard up against the blockout pin if became hard to shift into 6th most of the time.

You should be able to shift into 6th with 2 fingers.
